a. gatorskins
b. conti 4000's
c. vredestein fortezza (tricomp or whatever).
I actually haven't tried the top two, but that's what I've been hearing.

Aesthetics: GP4000 hands down. I've heard they ride nice, but haven't experienced them
Ride AND flat resistance: Schwalbe Stelvio Plus. Serious grip even in the rain. 2 flats in 12 months. This is hands down my favorite tire, but it costs too much, and can't handle skidding at all.
Skid: I don't really know, my love of the afore mentioned tire made me change my riding habits.

I just put on some Continental Gator Skins this afternoon. They are awesome - super-grippy. Get some if you can afford them, but skid conservatively!

wider tires = more skid durability, correct?
my 23 gators haven't really lasted me anywhere near as long as 25 armadillos, but i also had a more skid friendly ratio with the 25's.

I've been skidding my brains out for the last 2 nights and I still haven't killed an old gator that I've seen threads on since last year. I don't understand why I didn't have to walk home.

i have a wierd set up. i like having a 23c tire in the front, and a 25-28c in the rear. aesthtic wise, anything with a gray/grey stripe will work. but in the rear its always something with cross treads.

I've got a 25c gator as a rear and couldn't be happier with it, both for grip and skid feel/durability. 23c rubino slick in front is cheap and sticky enough, but might end up being switched for a Ricorso or something white.

i am really liking my everwear now that i have sometime on it. not the grippiest but then i found i don't really like supergrippy roadtires on the back.
they skid/stop real nice and so far are lasting pretty decently (but not as well as you'd think for such a thick tire). definitley better wearing than the road tires i have used so far including the much praised gatorskin but it definitely isn't as grippy.

While I use Rubinos's on my bike and have been skidding them since... June? I've decided that there's nothing more aesthetically pleasing than a gumwall. After these go, I'm done with whacky colors forever.

3x Specialized All Condition Pro. I swear by this tire, though I think they recently changed the rubber compound a little and it makes them a little less skid-friendly, as they are so damned grippy that it's notably harder to skip/skid than with other tires I've run. Long-wearing, great handling, and all black.
