Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

You buy me a bike like you own, and I will consider mounting a rack on my Honda Civic worth more than said Honda Civic.

My F-150 does a fine job of carrying my bike across the back against the tailgate.

I like my bike too much to carry it on the roof.

I misread the title and thought I would find a thread about a bike made of recycled suit fabric.

I had a SeaSucker but sold it after using it only a couple times. They are very well built and seem to work well, however the stress of worrying my bike potentially flying off the roof every time I drove over a bump was not worth it. An irrational fear rather than anything wrong with the product, but something to consider.

I have 5 other SEASUCKER RACKS including 2 in SE ASIA that I use constantly. I also carry very expensive bikes and never ever had one single issue. This will be my first KOMODA SEASUCKER and I am sure it also will fit the bill..!

You will notice that the OP cares not for input, just that it is expensive, he has it and he likes it. "Bragging rights" first and foremost. Nothing else. Of course, the oohs and the aahs from plebes are most welcome

Are you saying that the OP should reconsider his racks after extensive personal use because another poster used one twice and admitted to being irrationally concerned about it?

With these racks, it does not have to be mounted on the roof as it can be put anywhere the "FOOTPRINT" of the Suckers will fit.Rear deck lid , rear window etc etc...

what bothers me that you pay cost to $1400 for their rack then they have a security cable, why?SeaSucker Cable Anchor - FREE SHIPPING on Trunk Locks

" Cable Anchors available to clip over your side window or close inside your truck"
your window is going to save your seasucker for flying off your car?
an all you get is the anchor no cable for @30 bucks

to me that doesn't inspire confidence in their product.
all that says "SEESUCKER,I GOT YOUR MONEY".

The security cable is for protection from theft, not peace of mind when you're going down the road; you wouldn't want a cable flopping around while driving.

That cable has nothing to do with the rack itself's safety but for possible theft of a USD$1400.00 KUMODA Rack. No these would not be for the budget minded..

I think that blue one looks nice but I think it would get stolen off of my care in about 30 minutes.

They come in Blue, Silver, Black and Gold. I bought the gold colored one as the blue were out of stock and the gold will look nice on a black or dark colored car. I would never leave the rack alone on the roof no matter where i would be, only takes about 30 seconds to remove it and toss it in the boot..! I have had nothing but fantastic luck with all the Seasuckers I own but this will be my first KUMODA One as they are quite pricey..

I also worry about paint scratches or swirling with the cups especially if I were to take it off for a ride then put it back on because dust and dirt will accumulate while I'm riding. Do you have some fancy cars to put these suckers on? Let's see some photos of those!

My part-time neighbor (seasonal) has a Seasucker on the meanest station wagon you've ever seen (lowered BMW). He's driven it up from the SW and said that it's rock solid at speed. I don't know if that means in excess of 100mph, but he doesn't seem the type to be shy about punching it every now and then.

Actually, I was thinking about it and this Komodo rack is actually a little cheaper than the BMW rack + installation that I bought, so not too bad for a nice rack.
