Where Did You Ride or Walk Today?

No dedicated parking spot? Is that common where you live? Or did you opt out to save money? My daughter is doing that in her older apt. bldg.

Nah,I live in one of the poorest parts of my city.
It is also known for having the most outdoor staircases in the world.
The reason I say that is it is a reflection of population density.
They can't afford bicycles but nearly everyone has a car.
I opted to live here to further my daughter's education both in and out of school.
Now that she is grown I am trying to get back to the country.

As far as my car is concerned there is very little parking where I live.
Rather than driving around burning gas I park wherever is available.
Let us say at most a ten block round trip.
Tracker gets walked that far at least.
If my foot is unusually sore I walk him to an abandoned schoolyard
where he can run free. My goal is to move to the country where
Tracker has woods to play in and I can ride a bicycle for errands.
I hope that plan works out.

Sorry if I missed this, but why can't you ride a bike for errands where you live now?

on lunch the MSW at my clinic and I walked to pet store (she bought puppy pads) and Office Max (I ordered cubicle clips for my other clinic and had them shipped since they didn't have any in stock). we try to walk the shopping centers or the neighborhood behind whenever we both work on a Thursday... the other days we do it if things are quiet enough, but Thursdays right now we don't have patients after 11... so worst case if we take a longer lunch break it extends how long we stay to do paperwork later in the day...

I have poorly formed bones in the instep.
No biggy,we all have problems. My solution is the bicycle.😊
I ride a bike for errands all Spring/Summer/Fall.
My hybrid seems too pretty and fragile to ride in the winter.
I am looking for a M.T.B. or fatty.
Then I could at least do my errands.

Some people will do anything to justify n+1----even get born with a bad foot.
I second the call for a fat bike. Those errand won't do themselves.

Whoohoo! Back on the commuter bike today - first ride in 2018. Had to wait for the roads to be clear of ice.

I rode to work, the store, and back home.
Worth reporting: it stayed in the 12-15F range all day, and a bunch of (random) people were like, "You rode your bike? In this weather?" This was amusing because just a few weeks ago, it barely went above 0F...this weather is comparatively tropical. Tropical enough, in fact, that I went out in the yard to get the dog this morning wearing shorts and a tank top.

Walking the dog, morning and night, all weather. We're back to -10C and snow. But beautifully bright and sunny this morning.

spent 5 days walking around Frankenmuth, MI.. Even got DH who hates to walk to go with me, the car was parked except for one dinner and one drive in the snow to a place about a mile from the hotel... and getting there adn coming home... fun Snow and Ice festival despite the 50 degree temps Fri, 45 on Sat and 35 on Sunday... continuing to drop Monday and yesterday...

I rode all the way from the back balcony into the kitchen for an early Spring tune up.
While on my lengthy voyage I decided to not buy an upgrade bike.
Instead I am going to save up to buy a dedicated Winter bike.
That way I can use the car even less.
Oh and I get to ride more too.

I rode to the store to get my daughters prescription. The road was covered in snow, and there were a few times I thought I was going down.

It is famous for that and DH had it, I'm allergic to dairy, so didn't. A hospital visit on vacation wouldn't have been fun. but we averaged 4-5 miles a day per my fitbit, and add in all the swimming in our hotel and the day at the waterpark when my fitbit lived in the locker, not a bad week for exercise... And I took some amazing pics of the snow and ice sculptures.

Except for a short drive to the store, I haven't left the house in... two weeks, has it been? A few friends of mine sent me some much-hoped-for work that will help pay some bills, probably with more on the way. In this economy, you can understand is the keyboard beats the saddle.

This morning. I could feel I've lost a significant amount of fitness in the weeks that I've been idle, but the nice, cool weather and the lack of traffic at this time of night kept me going. I didn't actually think I covered this long of a distance.

Until today I had only ridden to work once so far in 2018, as there was a lot of snow and ice. After 2-3 days of rain, most of the ice is off the street, so I finally biked again this morning. Just below freezing with a hint of light flurries. I was so happy!
OMG, however - the potholes are the worst I have ever seen in over 25 years of bike commuting.
