A '60s TV show trip down memory lane

Pff, I figured I should get all of these. After all, I was a TV junky growing up. I'd sing or hum TV themes on my way home from school. Piece of cake.

Nevertheless, I still missed 3.

Spoiler
Avengers
Dark Shadows

Fun!

But since I wasn't born til the 70s there's tons of those shows that I've never seen or heard the theme song (or even heard of)

I got a bunch of early ones right, but eventually gave up

I got them all except The Virginian. Now how to monetize this vast talent of mine...

(Boy that Mission Impossible theme is a really punchy energetic song.)

If you remember living in the 60's, then you weren't "Livin' in the 60's.

Sesame Street debuted in November 1969, so you got 1 month in.

1969 was the year our PBS station fired up, but I didn't pay much attention to it until NOVA first aired.

The first 3 (no brainers) took 1.5 min. No way I was going to sit through them all.

you can hover on the timeline and see thumbnails of where the current one ends and the next starts, and jump ahead. That's what I did.

Last thing I can recall is wondering what the hell it was that Soupy Sales said that made my dad laugh.

In those days the stick spoke for itself. No dialogue necessary.

Hell that was all about the song the freaking puppet danced to... I wonder where folks like Soupy Sales, and even Johnny Carson came from... IE, how did they get to the limelight? Heck I wonder where Jay Leno came from... was he a standup comic early in his life? And then of course there is Ed Sullivan. Did he just grow up as an MC?

Don't know about ES, but Leno was a guest of Carson quite a number of times before being chosen to host The Tonight show.

google, search for wiki and the person/album/movie. I like looking up a movie, a favorite album, etc. It's always worth the effort.

Soupy Sales
. I remember White Fang. His sons were rock musicians with Iggy Pop and David Bowie! I never heard about his 11pm show with jazz musicians -- cool.

Johnny Carson. The Great Carsoni at age 14.

In an interview, Jay Leno started as a car salesman, and a part time standup comic, then the roles reversed when he started making more money from stand up comedy. Today, he still makes money from stand up, even when he was hosting The Tonight Show. He has commented that he has yet to spend ANY of his earnings from The Tonight Show,

I never followed Soup Sales, and I tend to agree with you. I had more laughs with Jack Benny's dry humor, with my favorite part of his is when he went to open his vault.

I think that song was actually a juvenile Stevie Wonder, then known as Little Stevie Wonder.

See I remember something of the '60s. Dragnet was a fun LSD thing back then . . . which is what you'd have to do for it to be any fun.

That was just a reference to the soup playing sometimes to the older audience that might be trapped in the house with you while you were watching it. I think the temptation for him to entertain around was too much for him to pass up. If you could make my dad laugh you weren't bombing out at my house yet.
