Seeing how often my phone reverts to asking me my pin when I try to use my fingerprint to unlock it... no, they are not worth it. A key is small, and a combo is easy to remember.

Is there a particular fingerprint lock you are interested in?

I've seen some fingerprint padlocks and fingerprint cable locks that could be snipped off with 12" bolt cutters. A bungee cord would offer about the same level of security.

People have been able to defeat fingerprint readers by scanning and printing a fingerprint (like from something else you touched), by taking an impression of a fingerprint and turning it into a mould, etc.

If there's any--and I mean any--moisture on my fingertip or the sensor, my iPhone fingerprint sensor fails every time. F that, fingerprint sucks.

I would hate for the battery to die while my bike is locked up.

Xiaomi make one "AreoX Smart Fingerprint U-lock": search in youtube or bing, cause i cannot post links yet.
And also works with one key, if no battery, fingers loss or something may happen to you....

If your bike is worth stealing, then a lock of any sort is not going to deter a real bike thief. Putting an unlocked bike of greater value next to it might be a better idea. A battery powered angle grinder with a good cheap cut off wheel, makes quick work of any hardened steel. As can a pair of large well built, but fairly expensive bolt cutters. But then again, if one is a thief, they probably stole the bolt cutters too.

As for casual thieves not really interested in value, any lock will do. However, some thieves out there for just a joy ride will trash your bike just because it is locked.
