Cape Cod Rail Trail, Harwich to Wellfleet and back. Great day for it.

My host told told me about a shortcut to the trail. My vintage racing bike with its 23mm tires was a bit out of place.

I met a ranger at Nickerson park who rode this stunning e-trike.

Wellfleet trailhead.

Took a short ride to the middle of no wear on wash board roads to 4 mile trail head Horseshoe park about 20 miles yesterday turns out there was fairly heavy traffic and the park was full to capacity with about 100 campers. So I guess it is official that there is no place in here in Park county that doesn't have traffic this summer got some nice pics without traffic though.

I've been rediscovering my '02 Mercian Vincitore; Monday night I swapped out the 18T fixed cog I use for dirt roads for a gently-used White Industries Dos Eno 17/19T freewheel. Yesterday I rode laps around the neighborhood before work to get the feel of it. Today I ventured forth and rode out to scenic Hodges, South Carolina and back home before breakfast and work. These are the first rides I've done using a freewheel on this bike since I assembled it in 2003. I like the 67-in gear and coasting, and it's nice to know I have a 60-in bail-out gear handy, but I think I'll flip it back over to the usual 16T fixed cog for my normal 70-in gear for regular use.

Pix taken this morning at 6:19 - and someone has gone to a lot of trouble to renovate what had been a crumbling cluster of under-used or flat-out crumbling and abandoned storefronts.

You live in beautiful country!
I always look forward to your ride reports and photos.
When I finally make it to Colorado I will certainly visit Park County and add to your traffic woes.

Everyone knows the yellow bike is fastest in July. Forgive brifters and 130 spacing. Almost 20 years old.
It does get regular use this month. And it works very hard to NEVER GET DROPPED.

Yes, riding brifters does seem to be breaking the 'natural' rules.

I beg forgiveness, but I have no vintage yellow bike.
Sometimes you just go with the flow.
But the vintage bikes still get ridden, as I feel faster mashing that 52X14, instead of an 11 cog.

Haven't ridden in over a year because new job kept me too busy. Biked to work the other day and hope to start doing it at least once a week.

Beautiful (and HOT) Concord, NC

Usually the area near this wooden bridge is a little cooler and shadier than the rest of my route. It didn't seem like it today; the Shade was hot!

Thanks! I built that myself in '84 when I worked in a Bike Shop in NY. Those tires are Continental Grand Prix Classics - 700 x 25c. They're on Mavic Open Ceramic rims. I was a little hesitant about getting the 25c since I usually had used 23s. But, I "had to have" a classic skin-wall look. When I mounted them, they looked a little wide to me (based on what I was used to seeing on those rims), but I am extremely happy with the ride. I even had to use them on about a half-mile of gravel on one ride and they did not disappoint. My only problem with them is: I cannot get the rear wheel out of the dropouts if the tire is inflated; there is not enough room behind the seat tube. Luckily, I can jam the bike in the back of my or my wife's car if need -be with just the front wheel off.

Wow, so awesome you built that in '84! Thanks for sharing. I definitely thought wider, but maybe its because of the smaller frame size. I've seen those grand prixs and they sure are good looking!

Some heat stress perhaps? That or trying to use one of those infernal phone touch entry keyboard emulators.
