The one in Portland is a really bad place to do laps, they have flirted with banning cyclists for riding too fast and otherwise being inconsiderate.

Uhh... Ohhh...

Two of the Ronde rides I think start in cemeteries, and occasionally hit private roads. But, those are hit heavily just one day a year per location. I've talked to people in the "You've got to be Kidding" cul-de-sac (hmmm... actually labelled "seriously"), and they enjoy watching the riders Also families along Brynwood

But, I only recently found that cemetery at the Sellwood bridge, heading up the hill. And, it would be a great loss to lose access to that route due to inconsiderate riders.

If there are any cycling clubs riding crits in your area find out where they ride. Those are usually flat circuits suitable for training, mostly around large business or industrial parks. Keep in mind the crits are scheduled after business hours or weekends to avoid interfering with traffic and making themselves and unwelcome nuisance. And the crit organizers and participants usually need to sign waivers of liability.

Since OP hasn't been back to clarify anything, I'm going to write this thread off as someone riding in an inappropriate place and being reprimanded for it, then whining to us about how unfair life is.

Certainly didn't help.

'That' pic, taken together with the op's admission that he had had a serious accident while cycling on that property, pretty much explains the ban. Assuming the college authority had the jurisdiction to impose it, that action was and is completely understandable given what little we here know about the situation.

Imo the authority in question would have been in dereliction of duty -- to students, faculty, staff -- had it failed to act.

I wonder if the college allows people who can ride without crashing to cycle on campus? If they do, you got yourself a biased based lawsuit

Thinking of or local college. I presume most of the local roads are public roads. There is one block that is blocked off with bollards... so perhaps maintained by the university. Other streets have lane restrictions and etc. I can imagine being asked to move on, but I'm not sure they would be able to kick a person off of the roads.

Then a bunch of sidewalks.

The sidewalks are good for riding slow, and would be inappropriate for doing intervals.

A few of the sidewalks that I rode on 20+ years ago now have signs... NO BICYCLES. I've still ridden on them, and have seen others riding... but ride with caution, and 100% yield to pedestrians, and hopefully nobody will chase you down.

I think PSU in Portland is the same. Some of what should be roads converted to street-width sidewalks, and NO BICYCLE signs on the main campus (often about a block of prohibited sidewalks to get to bike racks).

Now the local community college. That might be a good place to race. But, alas, I think once one turns off the main road, it is all college property. I bet one could easily make a mile loop around the parking lots.

If most of the classes are Monday through Friday, I bet one could circle some of the parking lots on the weekend and nobody would care. But, I'd certainly be careful of becoming a nuisance during school hours.

The football stadium parking lot can be a hive of activity. But, perhaps there are off-hours. Mall parking lot? Unfortunately with holidays and winter daylight times, there might not be a lot of time when the lot would be bright enough to ride without customers, but perhaps an hour or so in the mornings. Again, riding with courtesy.

Fortunately I live on effectively a dead-end road. So, I've created a couple of STRAVA segments. One short hill climb, and two flatish 1-mile fairly straight shots. And, an 11 mile out and back. I don't think I can hit the speed limit, except perhaps on the descent, but go by a no-nuisance rule. Also, on the hill Strava segment, I made an up and down loop, but was careful in direction to not hit a critical descent stop sign at speed.

No wonder cyclists have so many problems with turn signals when they get their knickers tied in knots over pointing a finger.

I dont know about your college, but ours has city streets. I dont think the college can ban me from riding there as I do a lot. The college grounds are in one of my circle routes.

And as usual there are campus police, and they have never bothered me. Maybe the OP just ran into one of his campus police that was exercising his "little bit of power". There are people like that around unfortunately. At nearly 82 over my life time in lots of situations I have run into that type that love to mess with people, while exercising there little power trip.

This sounds like a spam advertisement that attached itself to a zombie thread. Even if sincere, the plug was for a highly unethical service.

It's a spammers wildest dream that you quote their post and it doesn't get deleted by mistake. Thanks for reporting though.
