Largest tires on a Giant Escape?
I am curious as to what is the largest tire you have been able to fit on a Giant Escape with fenders?

Actual Measuring is So Pre Internet .

So if say I want to see if a 38mm tire will fit I would measure from the outside edge of the rim to an obstruction?

Measure what you have on there, and the space to the closest of ANY frame parts(both sides of tire and tread) ..... Available space will give you the max additional tire that will fit. I'd subtract 4mm to give myself some fudge room.........................
Sooooooo, if you have 28s on there now, and the available additional space is 16mm, theoretically a 40mm wide tire will fit. (don't forget to recheck tread to frame measurements to clear seat stay bridge, or chain stay bridge, or fork)
p.s., it's always wise to measure the actual width of the tire that is on there now ---- measurements and tire markings don't always equate.

And don't forget to also measure the distance from the tire tread to the seat stay bridge, and the chain stay bridge, and the top of the fork.
