Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Mrs. rjones28 mostly does herbs in whisky barrels. Many of them are over-wintering in our bay window under a grow light. We also have a blueberry bush. She's thinking of adding strawberries to the mix this year.

Shifting got all sloppy on the Battaglin yesterday. Turns out the rear wheel slipped in the dropout, because the chrome dropout and the chrome Campy QR skewer don't really grip well unless you torque the thing down. I'm considering attacking the bottom of the drive side nut with a file, maybe crosshatch it or something to it grips better. You'd think Campy would have thought of this. Perhaps they didn't account for my massive guads and my ability to throw down a 900 watt sprint.

Instead of a file, what about adding some sort of silicon or other type of gasket material?

I had that problem with horizontal dropouts. Seems to me certain skewers were better than others and when the face of the nut gets smooth and worn down it's worse.
I think the last bike I had with horizontal dropouts was the Landshark which I sold in 1992, or so.

I gotta wonder how many sprinters pulled their wheels out or alignment back in the day. I mean, if I can do it, imagine what someone with actual power could do?
