Good one.

Anywhoo....Here in Philly you have to make sure you look at the signs before complaining about cars blocking bike lanes. Some streets have "No Stopping" signs. However, many others have signs that read "No Parking." The latter permits vehicles to stop in bike lanes for short periods of time. IIRC, you aren't parking until you have stopped for something like 10 to 15 minutes.

You cannot pick-up or deliver goods in a bus lane during the hours it is in effect.

Here's one where drivers keep driving past a whole bunch of warning and do not enter signs.

OK, got to admit, I thought we set a low bar here (renters crashing into bridges, and everything else during move-in), but come to think of of it the Silver Line Tunnels were pre-gated, but wait Harvard tunnels were not, the only “driver” stupid enough to go there (and complain) was driving a bicycle.

So thanks for restoring my faith in “we suck, but they suck worse.”

You know, it takes an idiot to ignore that many signs, but it also takes a bunch of idiots to keep putting up more signs rather than do something even more unmistakable; the streetcar doesn't need anything but the tracks, so why not deeply notch the entire ramp down into the tunnel rather than just having the surface drop off at the end of the ramp? Something like 8x8" grooves should be impossible to ignore and get the message across that it's not a road while leaving the cars able to back out under their own power rather than requiring a shutdown and major recovery every time.

They are starting to ticket scooters and bicycles in Shanghai for not using the bike lane.

This is only the beginning though.

Too cold for brains to function? (Never mind; that much should be apparent from the fact people haven't simply moved away.)

Either cross-cut it for drainage or heat it. Still cheaper than the repeated tens of thousands each recovery costs.

This is the tunnel and Ontario is driving right into it.

It's NY State, not the city, that has the "must use" law for bike facilities. It would mean more to me if they repealed that law rather than maintained bike lanes. To me, it's a no-brainer that I have to go around an illegally (or legally) parked vehicle, whether it's in a bike lane or not. In places where people block the lane a lot, it shows that it's not a good place for a bike lane. I'd rather have a wide lane where a car and a bike can fit together than separate lanes.

Sometimes I wish I were carrying around a car window hammer or spray paint for cars in the bike lane. But I know if this practice spreads, there will be retaliatory action by irate motorists on every cyclist.

Motorists are under ever increasing stress, I wouldn't add fuel to the fire.

I've seen too many of them exit their vehicles with hostile intentions, in videos and in person.

Don't call them imbeciles. That kind of thing helped you-know-who become President.

When did they change Trudeau's title?

And I'm trying to be nice, by granting Canadian drivers the extra IQ points to get them up to imbecile level.

Ford SUV driver drove into the station.

This is close to where they "parked." Watch until 1:10, where you see the final "parking" place:

Yeah, a cattle guard at the top of the ramp would have stopped them.

This didn't, this didn't, and this didn't.

Combining bike and bus lanes in many of these cities has led to many a collision and near collision.

Bikes: This list got too long: several ‘bents, an urban utility e-bike, and a dahon D7 that my daughter has absconded with.

The trouble with combining "must use , unless. . . " combined with multiple obstructions is that it leads to the worst, safety wise, outcome. It leads to people weaving in and out of traffic as they go around the obstructions.

Yes, get a mirror. . . always look back . . and all that, but people slip.

A "cattle guard" 100+ feet long, of what amounts to 8-10" tall speed bumps spaced just far enough apart to ensure maximum vertical travel over each one? Most SUVs would break a control arm or A frame before getting into the actual tunnel, and could be easily winched out at that point. If they creep over it slowly enough for the car to survive and still don't notice the signs, then a lifetime driving ban is the absolute minimum they need.
