Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

My wife started dog sitting as a side gig (Rover dot com, think airbnb but for dog boarding) and we thought it would be a fun little side gig because we love dogs and dogs are awesome and and what could be negative about getting paid to hang out with some bonus dogs?

You guys. It's surprisingly stressful. Most dogs aren't trained at all plus sometimes our own dogs are stressed or jealous plus sometimes the dogs don't leave our cats alone so we have to keep everyone separated and keep an eye on everyone and feeding and walks and monitoring all the various needs of the myriad animals is just... not the most relaxing thing I could be doing with my limited free time. (My wife works from home so it's a little easier for her.)

It doesn't help that I'm usually the first one awake so I get to deal with the feeding shenanigans first thing when I'd rather be drinking my coffee.

Also doesn't help that I've been up since about 2 because one of the boarders was crying so I came downstairs to sleep on the couch to comfort her and never really got much more sleep.

It's 7 am so whenever Mrs. Ksryder decides to drag her ass out of bed in probably 3 hours we're going to have a talk.

Hmmm. Must be Saturday. The Spring cleaning is going well. The two shelving units combined well, into a 32" wide bench, directly below the pegboard, with two shelves below. Hopefully later today, the other peg board will come down and the 4' x 8' chalkboard can be move into its emptied space. Then, with a few minor tweaks, I will be able to hang at least the 4 main riders on the newly vacated wall. With the added convenience of coming in the door and directly to said wall, without passing under a hammock or any other impediment. New worlds are opening up.

We are going to Spain in a week. It’s not a cycling trip, but I do hope to rent a “City Bike” and do some not serious cycling. I am torn about whether to pack/wear a helmet. I am inclined to do so, despite the obvious fredliness.

Frustation.

So as I stated earlier, My new wheels arrived. I assembled the cassette and disk onto the rear wheel. Using pre existing freewheel and freehub tools! No problemo.
Thinking the front couldn't possibly be a larger problem than the rear, I procrastinated and delayed assembly until tonight. The freewheel tool will not fit over the "axel", and there is limited space between axel and center lock.

And PBK is late with my new 25mm gp5000 tires.

Wtf over?

Do you have a 15mm axle on the front? There are two types of lock rings for the discs - the cassette type and the BB type. The BB-type has a more generous ID - do you see anything like that with your wheels or discs?

Hey @datlas - pretty much all of the cycling stuff is on sale at REI and, of particular note to you, I see some PI winter gloves. They have a lobster-type with 130g of Primaloft insulation for $56 and a half-lobster (index and middle fingers separate, ring and pinky together) gauntlets with 170g insulation for $90. REI has a generous return policy, so you could return them after a couple rides if they're not cutting it.

They'd better have an intermission.

I've probably ranted about this in the past, but movie run-times need to be reeled back in. I can appreciate the occasional epic, but damn - 2+ hours has become commonplace. Like, even comedies - why on earth would a comedy need to be 120 minutes?

Bye week for the Seahawks. Luckily I went in to work yesterday, which leaves plenty of work around the house to fill my Sunday.
