I hope everyone is having a great Tuesday!!

Now that I have the new tires installed, it was time to post some pics of my cruiser. All told, I have about $375 invested in this guy. I only had time to take a very short ride, as it was starting to get dark outside, but from what I can see, these new Kenda K838 tires are going to be great. This is the first time I have ever reached double-digit speed pedaling up our very steep road (you can see a portion of it in the background). I have them pumped to 60PSI, and they have a maximum of 65. I think these new tires are going to make this baby fly, and make easy work of 20 mile rides. The next thing I need to do is get rid of the God-awful one piece crank. I noticed it clunking some as I pushed up our hill earlier. I have over 1100 miles on this bike....I guess I kinda like it!!

While I liked the absolute simplicity of my single speed cruiser my Knees love the mega range 7 spd and V Brakes.

I love those tires. I've installed the black versions on two cruisers. I used to run 50psi rear/45 psi front in my cruiser with those tires when I had it. We still have my wife's cruiser with those tires and I knock the pressure down to 45 psi rear and 40 psi front and let the tires get into the 30s before I pump them back up for her.

Great looking cruiser! Also, converting to a three piece crank was the best mod I did for my cruiser.

GR; did you have any problem with chainline? I'd like to convert mine, but am a little anxious about that.

No problem at all but I am using 3/16 rear cog, chain ring and 7 speed derailleur chain which doesn't need the chain line to be perfect. Also, my bike has a fairly long chainstay and chain line which helps too. To my naked eye, the chain line looks perfectly straight so I probably could have used a 1/8 drive train.

Hey G R do you remember what spindle length you used for the bottom bracket? My ride uses the standard 68mm bb, but I am not sure of the spindle size.

Usually differs from bike to bike. I've had everything from 110 mm to 127 mm.

Spindle length is dependent on the length the crank manufacturer recommends. Roger

I'm using a spindle length of 113mm but as mentioned above you need to consider the offset of the crankset you are using as well.

As soon as I am ready to purchase the new crank and conversion kit, I will attempt to measure and estimate the length of the spindle I will need. I have read elsewhere that 103mm is a more or less "standard" length for a three piece crank and single chainring. Absent of having an old one I can measure with calipers, sizing a new bottom bracket correctly is almost always a crap shoot!

When you buy the crank ask them what size you need. Then it will work right. Do not guess. Roger
