Help identify this MTB?

My kid’s friend rode to our house on this bike. The front brake pads were missing, the headset was loose, the stem was only stuck 1/2” into the head tube, and the saddle was loose.

I addressed all the issues so she had a safe bike to ride home. I put the saddle up to my height and took it for a spin, it’s a sweet little bike actually, but I have no idea what it really is. I’ve never heard of a “Traveler” mtb.

Any help?

It’s a gypsy bike! Make sure all your bike tools are still there.

It's mid-90's and those Alivio cranks are under recall.

Yeah I dunno. Google says Litespeed and Lynskey are out of Tennessee but this doesn’t seem like one of those. I’m stumped, that’s why I’m asking here.

I wouldn’t be surprised, I had a mid 90s Trek with Altus cranks that I took in for recall replacement.

That's the Traveler logo for a brand of bicycle and motorcycle helmets owned by Two Wheel Traveler of Knoxville Tennessee. The rear derailleur is 2nd generation Alivio, which places it 1995-1996. The bicycle was likely contract manufactured in Asia. The serial number may give a clue to its actual source.

So like a promo bike. It’s not undesirable. With a riser stem and a good crank it’d make a good commuter. I may offer the kid’s friend $20 for it and see what happens. At any rate, kid’s friend has a pretty decent bike that stops and steers correctly now.

Edit: and thank you for the helpful info

Yes, I believe it to be a promotional bicycle. Had this been from an actual bicycle line, I would have expected both a brand and model name on the frame. Promotional bicycles typically don't have model names and doubling up the logo increases exposure. I'd still appreciate the serial number. TIA.

Suspension fork appears to have deflated. I don't know what provided the spring in those. Decomposed elastomers would be my first guess, but missing spring or leaky air cartridge are other possibilities.

The forks are SR Duo Track, which were elastomer based. The last time I checked, refresh kits are available for about $50.
