Great to hear you found your Grail Bike. How does this one compare to your colnago super?

Eager to hear a ride report.

That's silly, you just didn't know you were looking for it.

They are both fantastic riders. The Colnago is currently the quicker of the two, particularly on turn-in because it's running 20mm tires while the Bianchi wears 25s. It's really noticeable - the change from 23s originally to 25s resulted in a measurable slowing of turn-in speed because the feel isn't as crisp. But the platforms are generally the same. I'd only know for sure if I put the 25s on the Colnago, but I suspect it would feel slower to react on turn-in on them, too.

My find of last year must have been my 1996 Gazelle Team ForelDorado-Golff frameset. Formerly riden by Michael van der Wolf. Had a bit of trouble with the stick seat post, but just got an email telling me it will get back from the frame builder any day now. Can't wait to put a Dura Ace 7400/7410 groupset on it and ride it!

I like

Fiji Ace frame/fork gifted to me by BF member. Mostly used components/parts I already had. I bought a pair of mid-reach Tektro 539 calipers to totally clear the tire sidewalls. I had purchased the fenders a while ago, but had not used them. I mounted them this morning. I am waiting on a quill stem, 31.8mm clamp, that I ordered. For now it has a Profile 1" to 1 1/8" adapter and an older 3T stem. I have been riding this bike quite a bit. It is definitely on the heavy side, but man is it comfortable. I like the triple front on it. Took it out for a ride in the rain this afternoon and the fenders really kept the spray and sand/grit to a minimum. With the fenders, 28mm tires are the biggest that will fit. Quite pleased with the outcome and the relatively low cost to put it on the road.

Lousy picture of the Ace in my post. There sure are some really fine machines in this thread. 76 SLT, I love the Volare!

1983 Lotus Super Pro Aero primarily equipped with Dura Ace AX. Purchased from the original owner who was a professional racer sponsored by Shimano & Lotus. He won several triathlons on this bike. I recently acquired the correct AX crankset and pedals.

Not the highest end bike I have but definitely in the best original condition, I stumbled on this 1982 Nishiki International a few weeks ago. The picture doesn't do it justice, it needs very little, a good cleaning and detailing, matching tires, bar tape and brake hoods, that is virtually it. The paint is incredibly good and the decals are all flawless. Since I have acquired this one I've been taking a hard look at some of my other keepers and I see 2020 being a big "N - X" year.

2019 was my first "N -" year. I stripped parts off of a few bikes I just didn't use anymore and the frames are gone. I only purchase one bike and that was on January 1, 2019. It was this Colnago spec'd (frame) Nishiki Maxima. While not as nice as most of the bikes in this thread it rides great and it quickly became a go to bike.

Well....I had a good year to be honest.

I picked up this pretty much NOS Paletti made with EL OS that I wound up having built up with a nice 9 speed Campagnolo Chorus Groupset. Went though two other sets of wheels before I settled on these silver ones.

Then I finally found another decent Giordana XL Super. I love my first one but wanted to build up another one and try to get it significantly lighter to see if it would ride even better than the first one. Built up with a Record 10 speed groupset and some C.F. tubulars. Under 18 lbs and so good on the road for the few rides I got in on it before winter hit.

Several more came this year and some were moved on to other riders.

A post script is this custom Wayne Evans I picked up from 3 time RAAM winner Bob Fourney. Still haven't sorted this one out but it'll get sorted out in the next couple of months. This too is Columbus EL OS with a mismash of parts right now.

Didn't buy a bike this year. Don't know if this is amazing, but I like it. Mounted to a front fender.

Bill, mine is coming along nicely as well. I have quite a bit to do yet with mounting the rear fender and putting on racks, but I'm in love with this voyageur. In fact, I culled a Trek 1500 I had that I was a keeper until today. All to make room for the Voyageur.

Here are my two finds.

The first is a Campania Professional that came as a free frame. Beyond some pretty strong anecdotal evidence, I’m unable to substantiate that it is a rebadged Fuji Finest, but it’s very light and rides so well that it’s a keeper.

The other one is a Univega Alpina Comp that I picked up for $50. It needs a full overhaul, which will be my spring project, but it’s complete, and it looks used-but-not-abused.

2019 amazing find...

I was a big Claude Criquielion fan during my formative years as a pro cycling fan, and I found this '89 Merckx Century in the colors of the Hitachi team for which he had ridden that season. I had a bike already built in full Mavic (which is what this bike would have been equipped), and because those parts are getting harder and harder to find in nice condition and are also expensive, I went another direction and built it with mostly Campagnolo C-Record, with a bit of Record 8-speed Ergo thrown in. I was sure to include some parts to give the bike a Criquielion flavor, namely a Cinelli cockpit, including Criterium bars, a Selle San Marco Rolls saddle and pair of first generation Look pedals.

Love the paint on that Evans above. 👍

Here’s a crappy NDS pic of my ‘95 Killer V 500. Since I’ve upgraded it to mostly XT & XTR, I’m calling it a Killer V 5000, lol. 😁

1982 Raleigh Team 753

Bought the frame late summer and finally found the time to build it up in November.

1978ish Legnano Gran Premio

Traded my Mercian frame for it a couple months ago. Still needs the full treatment but I'm waiting on white housing to arrive before I start.
