Could've been worse...might not have had the pump. Small victories count.

I've flatted in the office before. Always a bit of a bummer to have to hitch a ride home after that lol.
I swapped my Thursday and Friday workouts due to some timing stuff going on this week. Today I tried to do 5x8min at just above threshold with 5 minutes of rest between. Jumped the gun on doing this workout. Should have had a rest day after the ftp test yesterday. Was a bit above my head and my diet has been a bit low in calories this week so needles to say I made it through with some back pedalling, but felt terrible. I skipped out on the easy 30 minutes of riding I was supposed to do at the end.
Gonna keep it lower intensity this weekend since I should be skiing pretty hard and have my first skate ski lesson on Saturday morning.

3 hours today.
Swapped out the PT hub that's been getting loud and seems to be sluggish, felt way faster without it! But it feels weird to lack power.. wah.

Minute Intervals at Zone 6; when I first started this a few weeks back I couldn't hit the numbers, today it was solid. Now I'm thinking, 'I could probably stay in that zone for 5 minutes'....yeah that's probably massive optimism.
Also tried Zwift since no one rides on the roads anymore. Really I was too lazy to put on my lights and cold weather clothes. It was okay until my laptop died.

It was nice and warm here today - not even arm warmers or gloves needed! First time in a few months. Still no tan though...

Sadly, you're right, I don't think it dropped in the 50's til 9 pm...
Tan games kinda weak now but still there. In the summer there's at least one time a month where I'm forced compare skin tones with various coworkers.

The only tan-comments I've gotten at work are:
- "I can tell when you're riding a lot because your neck gets real red"
- "Why aren't you more tan, since you ride so much?"
They just have to rub it in!!

Still in the midst of an arctic tundra here. Only got above freezing once in the last week, with single digit lows. Not really used to it. They've either closed schools or delayed them by a couple of hours solely because parents are too dumb or lazy to ensure their children are adequately dressed to go outside to get to school. Seriously. It's maddening (not that I'm complaining about less work, just the absolute ineptitude of so many parents).
All moderate intensity on Zwift all the time continues. 6 straight days of tempo. Last night jumped in the KISS race and cranked out 30 mins at 323 before I had enough. Quite tired. 4 hours and 280 TSS so far this week, but not going to make it much longer without a couple of days off.

did yesterdays workout today (due to snow shoveling, how many tss is that??), 2hrs 3x20 sweet spot 123tss. I really need to focus on the food though, I'm still about 20lbs over what I had been for a long time. It's quite possible that if I can get 10w more in ftp and I get back down to the mid 150's that I could get to 4 w/kg which just seems like a nice threshold, even if by all other metrics I'm pretty medicore

Hit another 3 hrs/55 mi of high z2 yesterday before work.
I almost turned around due to fog. I'm serious - I had never experiences anything like it. Like turning off my bike light at 6:15 AM (when it's still kinda dark) and riding the brakes on flats it was that bad. At first it was kinda neat and I persevered because I knew the microclimate was short (Rose Canyon bike path), but I was still soaking wet by the end, through my wind vest, jersey and down to the base layer. Nuts!
As soon as the road rose up to UCSD on the hill the fog ended abruptly - it was like riding through soup. I was a little pissed that I was chilly and wet but once I got truckin' up the coast I started to feel fine again.

Man I miss living in California. As you know, living in the PNW, we have a bit of a lack of sunshine to say the least. But when we do get it, I turn bright red, then the burn peels, and I'm back to pasty white. I feel you on the tan thing, my wife has more olive skin and gets these nice glowing tans during the summer without even trying.

Got sick last weekend at the end of a good training block
Started feeling better, commuted yesterday about 2 hours total on the TT bike
Went out and did 4:30/ 75 mi easy pace today, ran into TMonk and said hi for a sec. Overnight low was 57, so it was very pleasant in the AM. But, the high was not very, so I started shivering after I stopped for coffee.
On the way home I hit a bunch of fog, it was kinda spooky

93.7 mi in 5:05 today w 3261 elevation, surrounding a group ride from miles 25-50. The group ride was fast and fun, sorta let loose a little too much on the front knowing how much more I had to ride. That made the last half of my ride a little sore and slightly unpleasant, but I was still able to stay on the gas without too much difficulty.

Early Bird Clinic 5th, technically a race but not really.
It was a Juniors Camp with a clinic added on (about 10 adults). Thirty or so Cat 3-5 with mentors who raced (but not scored) lined up, but about 10 were 10-15 years old (which was a mistake). The course is only 800 meters, which initially I hated, but it really emphasizes cornering so I've learned to love it. You can't just speed through them, there's a technique to go through fast.
Last Early Bird 2 weeks ago the 17-18's shot out from the start and it was over after the first lap. The skill levels are so different you aren't catching them. This time that wasn't going to happen and I told myself out the start I'd burn whatever matches I needed to stay in the front group. I also kept telling myself pre race I belonged in that front pack.
The gun goes off and two Juniors just gun it and get about 10 seconds on us. We form a chasing group of about 5 and I gun it and chase them down. Several attacks go after, but they're also chased down by a working group. I help where I can but had to start thinking about energy conservation and sat in the back. About 15 minutes in we hit a corner and there are 3 young juniors that were going half our speed and one guy goes down trying to avoid them. Next corner the same thing happens to me; 4 go on the inside, I go out, and realize its too tight and hit the brakes. After that it was a TT, and fortunately we lapped the field before I got dropped.
I still need to work on my cornering, not that it was terrible but the gap could have been tighter and definitely too slow on the front. There was a ton of unintentional bumping during some drills including getting my bars hooked but I stayed up and didn't panic so it was good experience.

2hrs tonight 5x15 sweet spot 134tss, I use trainerroad for erg mode and zwift just to have something to look at, got myself an orange lap leader jersey briefly (out of 38 people on the loop lol)
