1870s Victorian era bicycle school photo.
Nice photo of bygone days in London. I understand such schools were popular for those brave enough to mount an ordinary. Also neat is the Singer's Sewing machine sign (another hobby of mine is restoring vintage sewing machines.)

Great photo, also enjoy working on sewing machines. I brought a 50's Necchi SuperNova back to life a few years ago to fix some panniers and it works like a champ.Got to love Italian machinery.

Cool, it would have been even better if a class had been in session. "Today we'll practice taking headers..."
I don't need any more "hobbies"; right in our foyer is the treadle Singer my wife's grandmother bought new in 1909, I know it needs at least a new belt (OK, I'll risk trying that) - the rest of it I'll stay hands-off on like repairing a missing chunk of veneer (insert C&V mantra " It's only original once" here). I guess her day-to-day 1983 Singer cabinet model is "vintage" now? Never thought to ask her to make me some cycling jerseys.

The Cincinnati Ohio area had a lot of bicycle clubs in the 1800s.
The Brighton Bicycle Club had their own clubhouse near downtown!
