Did 26 miles today (longest ride for me... barely hung in there for the last couple).
I've objectively determined it's not possible for any God fearing human with only one ass to cycle any farther than that.
I failed at my goal of 15 mph average, but there were more stop lights than I'm used to so maybe I would have hit it... who knows? #need a power meter.

You did fine. FWIW, I just ordered these. Just another option, though they're going on my TT bike, because I'm not sure how they might handle a crit, and the assorted chaos that may ensue.

Vain, But Lacking Talent
Kids and I are out and about in Richmond and I just got word that my FIL finally passed.
Sad, obviously, but I think there's some relief being felt, too. He'd been bedridden and incoherent for days. I know that the long, mostly sleepless overnights were taking a toll on my wife, too, and she was growing resentful towards her mother and brother because of the division of duties, etc.
I suppose we'll be here at least a few more days to help my mother in law navigate this new stage.

Ok, one more post about my "achievement" and then I'll shut up. But here is a shot from the event of my finish in all of my 6'2" 242 pound glory, pasty white hairy legs and all.
Definitely looking forward to this being my "before" picture.

When I worked in a shop tri-flow was the go to for all jobs on customer bikes, but everyone used Rock and Roll on their personal bikes. That's all I have at home right now.

simple bike computer is a quarter the cost of a power meter can provide you with that info.
I use a sigma wireless computer, it’s old but it works.
Edit: recommended cadence is around 90, and I know the first time I tried to hit that I felt ridiculous spinning that fast.

I have no idea how you're that pale; it's not like I live that far south of you. You look like my relatives in the frozen northeast right now.

Hey, experts: Can I use any 12 x 142; 1.0 mm pitch through-axle to replace the one whose lever knuckle got ground halfway off in what must have been a rather epic pavement slide? If I don't have to use OEM, any recommendations?

The length of the axle will vary, so make sure you get that right. If you want an 'aero' and lightweight option, which will also necessitate a 6mm hex to install/remove, check out Robert Axle Project.

Dude, it's a curse. Even when I put in lots of miles in the summer my legs will get ever so slightly tan. My arms and neck will get cooked, and the tops of my knees facing up will get kind of dark, but my legs stay pretty white. And I've probably only done maybe 8-10 outside rides in this last recent burst of riding. Some of those were in the dark or with knee warmers.

I am about as pale as you, BTW, but do eventually tan reasonably dark with sun exposure. I have some pretty funny tan lines in the summer. I even get "tiger strips" across my forehead from the helmet vents.
