Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

And that means there are almost no holdouts, at least among the mainstream tire companies. Maybe I'll give it another shot this year with Conti.

I found some “lightly used” conte gator skins 25 mm tires on craigslist for 50 bucks. Any thoughts about this? My tires current tires have many more miles to go I think, so these would just be spares til one of mine goes out. My came with 23mm but I don’t see an issue putting 25mm unless I am missing something.

You’re not missing anything, but the Gatorskins are not a very rewarding tire to ride—slow, harsh, and poorly adherent—and, worst of all, last for ever. I like them for the dead of winter when it might be too cold to fix a flat.

Also a royal PITA to get on and off the rims. So if you do end up getting a flat you'll curse them more than you would hate the ride, so that maybe he will see the light.

My father has a decent mid-range alloy frame with a carbon fork and some ~1400g alloy wheels. Overall a pretty nice riding bike. He runs gatorskins and doesn't want to change.

It drives me nuts.

I keep thinking about sometime this summer sneaking into his garage and throwing an old pair of Veloflex Master 25s on his bike and making him go for a ride.

Based on her presence here, she tolerates us in very small doses!

Way premature. Shoulders are very delicate and often need months of rest and careful, cautious, rehab. Even the weight of the limb can prevent healing, which is why slings are so often used. As brother @datlas implies, they also frequently require surgical repair.

In addition to what MoAlpha said (they're noticeably slower), you can get new ones for about the same price.
