...Technically, though, I think it should be called a "cog railway," since the central drive gear engages a stationary linear gear between the rails to push the train up the mountain--it shows nicely in the picture above. As a byproduct, it also create some coal smoke, since I think the company still runs one coal-fired train a day.

Yes, but as a cog-and-sprocket pedant I refuse to recognize tongues in cheeks. It was all I could do not to crack wise about the New Hampshire license-plate motto.

My Wolftooth Road Link arrived today but I doubt I'll have a chance to try it out for a while. I'm going to try it on this DA AX RD. I am concerned that it might drop the cable carrier too low and be impeded on the QR nut. It might clear by sliding the wheel forward in the dropout as far as possible.
