Replacement Parts For BMX

Had my headset, handlebars, and brake lever stolen from my bike last night. My bike shop quoted me with a $150.00 - $200.00 cost for parts and labor.

I just use the bike for commuting, so I don't have to have bmx handlebars. Would I be able to use risers as opposed to bmx handlebars? The bike shop quoted $60.00 for handlebars, but I know risers would be much less. Any advice is welcome.

Is there a bike co-op in your area? That would be a good source for a range of used parts and advice.

Wait someone stole your headset? Like they took the cups out of your frame? That would be crazy if true.

If you are riding a BMX bike for commuting I would swap to a different bike that would work better. BMX bikes are great for tricks or in some cases racing but not really great for anything else. If you just happen to have BMX bars on a bike you could go with riser bars but will likely be in a very very different much more aggressive position and may not fit in your current stem.
