I'm trying to build a relatively comprehensive list of the available 650b / 27.5 / etrto 584 tires that would be considered suitable for pavement use. The bike has Surly Knards on it right now, but the perception is that the knobs are contributing some rolling resistance. It's been kind of a pain searching for tires, since the search engines don't seem to pick up on the size readily, and show us a lot of tires that are not 650b.

I have Panaracer Col de La Vie 40-584 tires on my 650b conversion and like them a lot. They roll smooth and comfortable but do make a bit of a hum on very smooth roads. When I replace them, I probably will opt for the Pacenti Par-Moto, which are quite a bit lighter.

I've ridden on Col de la Vies, Soma B-lines and Compass Baby shoes. The Compass tires are the best of the bunch, but mucho dinero. The Soma tires are essentially Panaracer Paselas and are okay; Yhe knobs on the CdVs seem to slow. All are made by Panaracer as is the Pacentis.

The list would actually be quite long id think, especially if we aren’t sticking to a size or max possible size, to narrow it down. Pretty much anything from Grand Bois and Compass/René Herse. Soma also has several 650b tires if I’m not mistaken. Sim.Works and Teravail also have road/pavement tires as well. Not to forget Panaracer, since they actually manufacture most of these brands tires for them.

my three favourites from personal use though are:
1. Grand Bois Hêtre 42mm
2. René Herse Babyshoe Pass 42mm
3. Panaracer Gravelking ‘slick’ 42mm
