I thought this was brilliant for folding bikes.
There's a controller on the handlebars. There's a cable pulling servo on the stay. The connection in between is wireless.
I could seriously see this with, say, a Shimano SG-C6001C 8-speed coaster brake rear hub on a folder. No cabling front to back. Yeah.

I sometimes wonder why, sitting in a workshop, is it so hard to find the right spanner or socket to fit. Why use an adjustable? I have a scrappy working area at the back of my garage, and my bikes are from the cheap end of the market, but I can still use the right spanner by habit - so that if someone brings their bike in they can see that I care.

Solution to what? If this is directed at my comment, I own other bikes with both IGH and derailleur, and ONLY the internal cable routing on my older Dahon Speed P8 is subject to this problem. The cables are too tight within the frame, so an IGH will solve nothing if the cables are still inside the frame of the bike.
