Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Who needs pull ups when cycling? You might be doing it wrong. Or do you mean for long rides when bladder control is an issue?

I tried working on pullups a couple years ago. Doubled my capabilities in 3 months. Went from 2 to 4.

Since you're starting from zero, the possibilities are infinite.

So what did you do to improve? I don't have access to pull up bar most of the time.

I'm approx 3 blocks from a pull-up bar, so I can try any time I want.

100 pushups a day should help a little. Doesn't hit the right muscles but some overlap.

If you have a resistance band there are a few exercises that hit similar muscles.

If your doorways have casework, you could try pullups on the that if you have (or want) rock-climber fingers. Careful, as I have torn casework off a doorway trying this.

Maybe I’ll install a pull-up bar in my utility room, then again, maybe not.

How much return on one push-up a day? Asking for a friend.

I started year with a little 18-miler. Chest is a little congested and I'm a little fatigued. I'm thinking/hoping that it's not going to get any worse for the road trip home.

I have a chocolate tolerance problem. I was allergic pre-puberty but can handle it now unless I eat too much... like around the holidays. A half dozen chocolate squares gives me chest buzzing followed by an upset stomach. As a child, I got hives that looked like ringworm and vomited from a single Hershey bar.

So, my wife is putting away Christmas decorations this morning and finds a sack of Ghiradelli chocolate squares. I ate 5 and now feel anxious and sick. It will pass in a couple hours. I told my wife to either hide the rest or throw them away.
