Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Brenton takes stunning photos.
Aaron is a great designer.
Kirk does amazing film storytelling.
These guys pooled their talents to make something that turned out really beautiful.
It's bikes! It's fun!

You all know if it was your city you'd saddle up...

Photo shoots are fun as f*ck. Especially with a bunch of your friends involving something your all into.
A chance to have fun and look cool in a potentially awesome photograph? Sounds good to me.

When I used to snowboard, there'd be these really fashionable kids with brand new Forum snowboards and neon colors who'd always be seen posing in the lodge. I'd stop in for a quick break and see them all the time. But not once did I spot any of them in the park, half pipe, or lift line.

I kind of get that vibe in that movie. All these kids smiling for the camera but how about some actual riding? I think the fixed gear scene needs to be more like skateboarding. In that world, everyone all rides similar **** and you're not really set apart or unique because you ride say, Venture trucks instead of Independent, or a shop board instead of an Alien Workshop. What sets you apart is you're that guy that can pull that one trick on that one handrail/stairset/box that everyone else has been trying to do for months. Merit granted by talent, not fashion. Of course there's also the too-cool-for-school skaters that you'd only see posing their board in the mall, too, so I guess there was a fashion aspect there too, but it quickly became apparent who was the real deal when you got to the skatepark, and who was just all bark no bite.

For all I know some of these guys could kick my ass in an alleycat. But honestly, I'd way rather look at pictures of people riding bikes than standing next to them any day of the week.

I'm indifferent. But I like pictures of bikes. And that looks like a party here in Philly.

That video made me realize that I need more tats and piercings if I'm gonna ride a fixed gear bike!

Whats so special about "cycling" specific caps? super sweat wicks? I need a sweat cap, my helmet's pads absorb all the sweat then leak all over the place.
