What bibs do you wear?
I've owned dozens of bibs, and most start to be less than totally comfortable after 90 or so miles.

PI P.R.O bibs are my favorite, but on a tight budget Performance Elite bibs are comfy too. After about 4000 miles the chamois starts to wear out, but Performance has a great satisfaction policy, and will take care of any wear issue you have.

You hit 68mph? That's nuts.
I have De Marchi C+ bibs and while I haven't done a century in them they have been comfy.

Thanks all...lmao...
I worked up from my usual 30 and 40 milers to a 70 and took it from there. I rested the 2 days before, drank plenty of water, etc.. I can easily see doing this route once a month. The next challenge will be up the Hudson River to Mt. Bear, a local Cat 2 climb. Pretty hilly on the way up.
Hydration and fuel absolutely was the key. I loaded up the bike with 3 21oz bottle of water, Laramar Bars, Kind bars, dried apricots & figs, 3 bananas, and a Nutella sandwich. For the first half I paid attention to really eating regularly, I made it home with energy to spare.

It really is a mind game. Fuel & pace are King. Really has me thinking about having a hill cassette and a flats cassette...I found myself yesterday wanting that cog in between cogs....ha! I still believe a triple really gives you the best of everything...you can keep it tight in the back for optimizing cadence all the while opening up your gear range with one more ring in the front...

Even though it's mostly flat in my area(Phoenix) I use a compact crankset with a 12-25 11speed cassette. It gives 1 tooth increments from 12-19t and 21,23,25.
If I had a triple, I'd probably use a corncob 11-21 cassette, and a 53/39/30 crankset.

"UnfilterdDregs," sounds like the bottom of my coffee cup. Not saying that a bad thing .... just ... hmmmm. Always curious where we choose our usernames.
And about those snakes, you saw that too eh?
Oh, sorry. Forgot the "Congratulations!"
Actually you did that at the same avg speed I do 40 mile on the flats, so that's even more impressive. (to me at least)

Congratulations, I have been wanting to achieve such a goal but find myself stuck at the 60mi range, give or take. I make the mistake of parking in a spot where I pass the car around that 60 mile mark. Maybe I just need the wife to drop me off and I'll keep going? Good Job!
