Mavic Module E 700c 36h clincher hoops for wheelset build. Decent condition with a recent cleaning and light polish.
The diamond mavic decals are intact but the neighboring decals have been removed or completely faded.

I believe G40's were similar to MA40's and both had double eyelets and dark anodized finish. MA2's also were double eyelets I believe and polished.

Looking closely at the faded decal the top line says Module "E" 700c.

Mavic G40 Rims Were Anodized Module E Rims
malcala622 Those rims are most likely Module E rims which were ~19.8mm wide when new. They had single eyelets. The Module 3 rims were the same design except 22mm wide. See 1980 Mavic Catalog page below.
The Module E rims were introduced in 1975. They were developed in conjunction with Michelin to work with the then new 20mm wide Elan tires. They were available in both 27" and 700c.
The 700c rims were popular with sewup riders because they could switch to clinchers without having to adjust their brakes. Besides being the same diameter they were approximately the same width as sewup rims.
Mavic continued producing the Module E and Module E2 rims into the early 1980's. The were replaced with the MA and MA2 rims.
