Yeah, lighting is key. I put a white cloth on the floor for sighting mine. However, I've always been able to deal with point rub non-surgically, so far.

How much easier is it to inadvertently mangle a latex tube when installing? Thinking about lightening up my flat kit with one.

(Yes, being stuck inside has me thinking about all kinds of dumb marginal gains.)

As long as you have a little air in it as you install it, it shouldn't be boogered up at all.

Easier, much easier if it’s not inflated to fully round ahead of installation. And they leak CO2 like crazy. Latex in the flat kit is on the do-not-try list.

Intended, though only such that there was a 20’ perfect uphill on the sim course. I’ll probably be upping my FTP soon, as the whole workout was .95 IF for an hour and I did a short run after. Hoping I can get up to 300W this year.

Went to Target which was nearly vacant and fairly well stocked. They also seem to be doing most things right like cart cleaning, spacing, etc.

Also went to Aldis but my local Aldis is so small that it was a trick avoiding people and I saw several violators. Glad to be home.

We’re going to violate the “distancing” rules as my wife wants to get the tandem out this afternoon.

There is a main road into the center of the city that is normally closed to cars on weekend days between April and October. Nice, four-lane drive along the river. With so few people driving into the city, the city decided to close it to cars 24/7 starting a week or two ago so people would have more exercise options. My ex rode it late last week. She said it was extremely crowded. More so than on a nice weekend day in the summer.

Excellent! And congratulations. This is really the only way I can do an indoor threshold test, up a simulated hill. Or try a Zwift crit race. A little different than a climb, but still a full out 20 min.

The diet hasn’t been as strict as normal during all of this, so I’m probably around 175. I also haven’t bothered checking as often. What I will say is I’m probably heavier and thicker than most of you expect; at every running race I’ve run in the past decade I’m thicker and heavier than anyone finishing around me.

There was a time, back in Boulder, when I did consider eating a ton and winning the Clydesdale tris. Then they bumped the weight from 200 to 220, and that’s just too big for me.

What about lightening the whole bike by running latex tubes in both tires? So instead of the combined weight of 2x butyl + 1 latex flat kit you would have 2x latex + 1 butyl flat kit.

Plus the latex is more suppler and more faster.

Naturally, I'm assuming you are running butyl tubes since you don't have experience installing latex tubes. I've never used them, either. Although super-thin "open tubular" style 38mm tires with latex tubes sounds absolutely heavenly.

Or are you tubeless on your road bike?

Thanks! And yeah, I’m finding the same - erg mode kills me at higher power. When I’m ready I’ll make my test protocol in slope mode (2x20’, take lower, take 95%). It’s a little conservative compared to the standard 20’ test but I’m too good at gaming that one.
