Driver who hit cyclist on Natchez Trace Parkway pleads guilty
Being rich has privileges. (he was a prep school dean).

The driver who hit a cyclist on the Natchez Trace Highway last July pleaded guilty to charges of assault, lying to law enforcement officers and destroying evidence on Monday morning.
Marshall Neely pleaded not guilty in 2017, but changed his plea after reaching an agreement with prosecutors last week.
Judge Waverly Crenshaw accepted the guilty plea, but still has not sentenced Neely. The agreement asks for 10 months of prison plus three years of supervised release. Neely would also have to pay cyclist Tyler Noe a sum of $1,210.

I've been following this one. I am glad he pleaded guilty, but the agreement seems too lenient in my opinion compared to the sentences I've seen for other cases of assault in the US.
$1,210 is barely enough to replace the bike with something half-decent.

I hope he actually serves the 10 months. He got good legal advice to cut a deal, based on the video he might not have done so well in front of a jury.
Presumably the guilty plea will lead to him and his insurance company writing a big check to settle a civil claim.

Agreed. Mind blowing
All captured on video so no dispute. Didn't he leave the scene?
only to be caught later by cops and lying to them about not hitting the cyclist? He said they threw the bike at him! No big civil settlement in this case. What are the damages the cyclist walked away fine

Quote from camera operator who rode with him
“Three hours ago this person intentionally hit my friend Tyler Noe on Natchez Trace,” Goodman posted on Facebook. “We had a witness behind us who said he has seen this same Volvo try to hit someone else last week.”
