Managed 4 miles Monday evening, my fifth ride in a week since resuming cycling after a long I-hate-us. Loved the downhill bits. Asthma hated the uphill stuff. Had to dismount and walk across an overpass, while a pedestrian I'd passed 15 minutes earlier caught up and left me in the dust. He didn't gloat too much, for which I am grateful.

Felt great afterward, which made up for feeling miserable during. Sorta like a reverse hangover.

Drove out to Montauk Point yesterday(9/7) for an off season week at the shore. One of the blessings of retirement - watching the line of backed up traffic heading home as the wife and I cruised on out in almost no traffic Arrived in time to get in a quick 25.1 miles. The only downside was it was in a wind beatdown. Oh well wind is good for the soul.
This morning I did some hill repeats. Being a flatlander I don't get to tackle hills to often. Montauk isn't exactly mountainous but there are some that I find challenging. I hit one that is about .7 miles 10 times. Total ride gave me 25.7 miles

24 miles today riding to and from work. Perhaps my last 90F ride of 2015.

Tuesday: 26 mile ride, the usual late summer heat and humidity for the Gulf Coast. Still a very enjoyable ride.

Didn't ride the club ride in the AM with the guys yesterday since radar showed rain coming. It came and they were hit with some. I HATE going out with a clean bike and then getting rained on.

Waited until 1130 then went out on the 38lb. grocery grabber with temps feeling like 103F to check on a friend's house. 20.2 miles there and 20.4 miles back. A good slow ride especially on the way back into the 12mph HOT winds.

Got rained out on Monday and wasn't feeling well yesterday but got out this morning for a nice 35 mile solo ride. Great weather. Humidity is starting to drop, making mid 80º temps very tolerable.

I not ride today i be at work after work i get bussy but i hope i can go for ride tommorow. And i need opinions. I put in one old steel bianchi strada lx fulcrum racing t wheels and i do one cassete 8 speeds 12-30. the bike have downtube shifters. The weight of the bike without water bottles is 25.6 pounds. Now is shifts good. Dropouts is 126 mm. But i spread the wheels with my hands and i fit wheel 130mm. is worth i put in that bike 10 speeds cassette or i look for more light weight bike. After the lighter wheels i put i not see how i can make that bike more light weight

I aired-up the tires on my "rain bike" as the dark clouds rolled in this morning. I've yet to ride off from home in the rain. But sometimes... I figure that just because rain seems certain doesn't mean it really is. And what's the sense in having a bike equipped for foul weather if I don't at least chance getting wet on a hot day.

I had a nice ride and actually made back home before the rains came.

15.4 Wed on the Sirrus and had a split sidewall on the front tire. Made it almost all the way, only had to walk ¼ mile home. I managed to get over 1100 miles on used Roubaix Armadillo 25C tires, so I got my money's worth. Put on a set of new Bontrager Hard Case 28C tires. Let the stickers try to get though those! Haven't ridden it yet to compare 28C vs 25C rolling resistance.

17.9 miles today on the trike. Long sleeves were a bit much after the first ½ hour.

25 miles on a Bike Commuter day. Just a bit hot on the way home and with a bit of a tailwind at times, too.

23.4 miles on the Sirrus Flat Bar with the new 28C tires. I can feel the difference, especially them being "hard case", but not much. My preference for the road is still 25C but I already had these from almost 2 years ago. Climbed Spanish Springs Rd. and on to the river bike path. Beautiful riding bike.

Wife wanted to ride this morning so I couldn't do the 62 mile ride I had planned. Instead, I ended up with 35 miles on a very hot day.

I usually take Friday off but I got rained out yesterday so I swapped rest days. 25 miles @ 17 mph including Threshold Intervals. 2 x 20 min with 5 min recovery. Almost felt cool today 68 deg and overcast.

Friday was windy and cool at 58F. I decided to ride my favorite 4mi sprint. Turned in a second best effort with speeds at 22avg with a 26.5mph high and an 18.5 low. Cant say this is ever enjoyable but it is one of those local rides I have enjoyed being in the top 10 and one I dream about in the winter season.

Took the Allez out today for an extended 19.7 miles. Weather Underground is predicting a 98° high, but it's hiding behind clouds. Glad I wore long sleeves.
Anyone interested in tires - you can spend $40 (or more) apiece for Gatorskins, Michelin, or Shcwalbe, or get the same wear and protection for $14.95 (in a variety of colors) with CST CZAR tires. It's the same Taiwanese company that makes the brand name tires, this is their own brand name. I've had really good luck with them on the Allez and will be replacing the Roubaix tires with same (only in blue).

Backward Circle Bike Co.
Just passing it on.

76 miles total. Got drizzled on a bit. Was soaking wet even before the rain came from the 38.4 mile LBS ride at a 22.1mph average. The legs are happy that some of the fast guys didn't show up.

60.27 miles @ 16.8 avg with 1696 ft. Last couple of days in Montauk so I'm trying to make the most of it. I was about 52 miles or so into the ride when 2 cyclists in team kits rode by me. I needed the motivation so I dug in and grabbed a wheel. Cruising at an ambitious 22 - 24 mph into a cross/head wind. I didn't want to be Joe Wheelsucker so I really pushed it to swing around and take a pull. As I pulled up the guy gave me a nod so I pulled in. Pulled as long as I could, maybe 90 seconds, and rotated back. This kept up for about 6 miles. Reality reared it's ugly head when we got to the hill leading back into Montauk. That's when I got dropped. Hey no shame in that I gave it what I had.....besides I was giving these guys about 30 years. I would have thanked them for the ride but I was working too hard to talk.

Rode the "Tour of the Valley Peaks" today. The second annual - just me myself and I. It's a combination of all my favourite rides, just all in one day. Last year I wasn't successful in riding them all - I ran out of steam and water before I could complete the last "hill". This year I took a different approach - rode every hill (except one by mistake) in my granny gear saving energy for the last hills of the day. It worked. At the top of the last hill I had ridden 85 miles and climbed 9500 feet - so I decided to make it a Century and top 10,000 ft. Final tally, 101.3 miles 10643 ft. The climbing total is a PR for me. Not sure that I have any reason to try and beat that, ever. It was a gorgeous blue sky day with temperatures starting in the 70's and reaching 85 by mid day. I like what @Biker395 posted in another thread - the way to complete any long ride is not by focusing on the miles left, rather by thinking that we live to ride and to enjoy each minute of it, because once it's over, its over - we go back to dreaming about riding. It helped me focus on the joy of riding every mile and every hill (mountain). It was a good day!
