Thank you cycling!
Nice 15+ mile early morning ride yesterday w a group of ~30 folks. Stopped by CVS on the way home for some Aleve for this old aching body and logged this. Makes it all worthwhile:

Looking good . With additional miles being logged, the numbers and weight can continue to drop.

My BP always goes up when a doctor takes it though - fortunately they believe me when I say it's usually lower.

I really regretted moving and having to find a new MD - I'd seen him for 20 years.

I used to take the high blood pressure pills but with a little loss of weight and who know what else caused it...I don't take the pills any more. I did buy one of the in home monitors so I can check it myself.

I had to go see the doc today, 126 over 80. I'm happy with that.
OP's is just plain fantastic.

If you have idiopathic HBP, no amount of cycling will do a thing for your blood pressure. I tried. I know.
"White Coat Syndrome" is high blood pressure. You're fooling yourself.

I've never taken pics of my BP results. A couple of years ago, I was hospitalized and had to be monitored overnight with one of those automatic machines - the kind that takes the BP every 20 minutes or so - and during the night my BP was 102/55 +/- 5 points on both with a pulse rate of 50 +/- 5 as well.
Contrast that to a few years before that when I was getting stressed out at work by an idiot supervisor (who late got demoted for incompetence, but that's another story). I had gotten so mad I started 'seeing stars'. I told the POS that I was leaving and going home, and he harrassed be all the way to the time clock, screaming and threatening. I clocked out, went out into the parking lot and sat in my car for five minutes or so - until the stars stopped. Then I drove myself to the Med Center down the street, signed in and waited...
10 minutes later I was taken in for triage and they took my BP -- twice -- because they couldn't believe the reading of 240/140... and this was over twenty minutes after I was seeing stars! Makes me wonder how high it had gone! They were going to call for an ambulance to take me to the hospital, but decided to let me sit in a dark, quiet room for another twenty minutes and retest. By then the BP was down to 180/100. Still quite high, but not 'life-threatening' requiring an ambulance ride, so they sent me home with a note to take a few days off work, and to follow-up with my Primary Care doc.
I was already on medication for high BP. 20mg of Lisinopril and 25mg of HZT. High blood pressure runs on both sides of the family - both of my parents were on BP meds before the age of 30! I didn't start them until after age 45.
My BP these days is normally around 118/68. But that is on medications.

Fear releases adrenaline, adrenaline raises blood pressure. I've had two doctors tell me I have White Coat Syndrome. I even brought my home sphygmomanometer to the doctor's office to have it checked.

It's generally accepted in the medical community that WCS is not a benign condition but is an indicator of long term risk for chronic HBP and associated disease, including heart and kidney damage. Individuals with chronic hypertension have the most adverse events but WCS individuals have a higher risk of HBP related events than those without any evidence of hypertension.

My in office blood pressure is good (after losing 40 pounds and biking 100 miles per week for several years). My blood pressure outside the doctors office is even better.

My BP is a bit lower after losing 45-50 pounds from cycling, and from getting back into cycling for exercise. However, it's still high. It's genetic; dad had high blood pressure his whole life, both my older brothers had high blood pressure. I take the meds, I exercise, watch what I eat, and check my BP often. I also do think WCS is real, but that's just my opinion.

well done sir!
I've got an automatic battery operated unit I use at home (& office). it's pretty interesting to use it over time & keep track at different times of day & before/after certain activities. they're not cheap, $50 I think, but they easy to use
