Pas and torque sensors
I'm curious abut how torque sensors and pas sensors work. a tork sensor for example measure torque and magnifies based on how much pressure is applied. what if someone has disabilities and is not able to apply enough pressure to get full benefit of the boost, which is kind of the point.
a cadence sensor is supposed to apply more power the faster you pedal afaik. I assume its just what ever percent f power the controller is designed to apply at a given rpm.
educate me

Torque sensors are strain gauges AFAIK, and the % power assist for each level can be set. The Pedego Range something that I tested for awhile was interesting in that at its highest PAS level (six, AIR) it provided maximum assist no matter how hard or fast the rider pedaled.

Cadence sensors generally apply full assist once a certain cadence is detected. Think of it more like an on/off switch triggered by pedal rotation. I much prefer to ride a torque sensing bike (it rides more like a ‘normal bike’) but if somebody has physical limitations they might be a better candidate for cadence sensing-only PAS. If you’ve never ridden an e-bike before a couple of test rides of cadence vs. torque sensing will demonstrate the differences between these two systems much better than us trying to describe it to you.

I was thinking bout adding a PAS to my EBIKE a mid drive but I don't think I want full power I like to assist the motor and at full throttle I cant keep up with the motor in the flats. its only a 450watt but the gear inches are limited by a 38t chainring and 14t smallest cog.. too bad I would like a little better assisted top end

Check out the TSDZ2 mid-drive kits. They have a torque sensor and they have different power options up to 48-52V 18A. I would recommend going with the most powerful option and lower the the pedal assist level when you don’t want/need to use the extra power.
