Windsor Ont:47km abandoned CASO rail line procured for Trail
Decided to post this here since the Eastern Canadian regional discussion has few new posts.
47-kilometre abandoned section of the former Canada Southern Railway has been publicly secured and will complete a multi-use trail loop through the region once the property is developed.
The Essex Region Conservation Authority, along with partners the County of Essex, Town of Tecumseh, Town of Essex and the Municipality of Lakeshore, successfully secured and protected the corridor for public use following years of negotiations.
Federal funding support came from Environment and Climate Change Canada. More money will now need to be raised to develop the former rail line, which ceased operations approximately 15 years ago, into a trail system.
Once complete, the new trail — which runs from the 8th Conc. Road in Tecumseh southeast to Essex before following a northeast direction to Tilbury — will connect existing Chatham-Kent trails to Leamington’s Greenway, the Chrysler and Cypher Systems Group Greenways and the Herb Gray Parkway trails.

Thanks for sharing!
Now let's get the Joe Louis Greenway going and connected to Hines Drive via the proposed Rouge River Gateway Greenway (https://www.connectingtherouge.org/) and you've got a nice stew going! I can't wait to ride bikes with my kids across into Canada in a few years!
