Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

Masi CXGR Expert 2018, thoughts?

Hey folks,

Thinking of getting the Masi CXGR Expert (2018 model). Anyone own one and have impressions that they want to share? Like/dislike, why/why not? Any info helps. Not a lot of reviews out there...

Thanks!

What are you looking for in this bike? For that price $1,500 there are a lot of options out there.

I'm looking for a bike that has road bike feel, off road capabilities, low weight, decent components, and priced at 1000 or lower.

Gravel seems to fit, cyclocross is a bit more agressive than I'd like. Otherwise I'm pretty flexible.

for msrp $1,050 (maybe less depending on shop) you can get a really nice Cannondale Claris Topstone. and Claris isn't bad at all, not the new stuff. I think it's nicer than my last generation Sora!! by far. the CAAD frame will give you comfort and performance both.

I don't think the steel frame CXGR will give you that low weight thing. Road bike feel? maybe, but not as close as some other Gravel bikes.

If you want a seriously good deal on a decent bike.

2017 Willard1 as 2x $699 + $75 shipping (size 54, 56, 58)

2017 Willard2 as 1x $899 +75 shipping (54, 56, 58)

If you really want steel,
2017 Tamland1 as 2x $999 + $75 shipping (54, 56)

yet at the end of the day.... buy the bike that you find visually attractive, you are the one that has to see it everyday.

I think it is a very good bike. 105 for a grand seems good. However the bike may be heavier than you want. Those Raleigh bikes seem to be fantastic deals as well.
