Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Uhmmm...Am I going to be the first to mention that he has a cog on vertical drop outs, or is there something special I don't know about!?

Thanks, maybe if I find a good deal on a matching SRAM force groupset on CL.

Thanks man!

And thanks Jean!

I had these straps off my pista concept and just slapped 'em on. I was thinking of cages w/ straps, but once you try these straps, you can't go back. Seriously.

Top tube has that protector because the bar wrap doesn't reach far up on the bars enough to cover the area that dings. ):
I know, it sucks. Been contemplating taking it off and being extra careful. (:

Oh yeah! The eccentric hubs...Those.............
It still seems wasteful and lame IMO, woulda made such a sweet road ride, and just doesn't look natural to me.
All around though, nice bike/parts, get a derailleur or two and that bike would be the sh*t!

COuldn't you theoretically buy a CAAD for like 400-500 (frame only) and then convert it? It would be cheaper than a pista concept and probably lighter as well. However, I don't really know if dropouts can change performance...

Haha, seriously?

I don't know if my idea works with any other frames, but I'm sure many are much cheaper than a high priced aluminum track frame, and better for just riding on the street.

No you're right, I see aluminum frames with carbon forks from high-end road bikes on my local CL all the time for $2-300.

it's also difficult to convert as the caad9's and up use BB30. the concept is good though, pretty much summed up the scott cr1 up there. you're right too, it would be pretty damn light and the geometry is pretty aggressive but not overwhelming.

This doesn't really fit the general pattern of the hip bikes here, but it is a single speed.
