Cannondale Synapse
Hi all, I have a chance to buy "2019 Cannondale Synapse Carbon Hi-Mod Disc" For $3,500 (excluding tax). Bicycle blue book seems to estimate this bike as $7,000 MSRP. For those of you that have this bike, heard of this bike, or have been biking for considerable time - is this worth it given the MSRP and the fame? Thank you for reading & giving feedback in advance.

What does MSRP matter when that isnt the price tag? I couldnt care less what MSRP shows- I care what the price tag shows.
Its a nice frame and fork, quality crank, and good wheelset. Seems expensive to pay $3.5k for that, since Rival is equal to 105(pretty sure) I would expect to pay $2000-2800 at most for the same bike with a 105 drivetrain in a retail setting. I would also consider that expensive for 105, but I am probably just unrealistic.
To compare- Trek Domane 105 disc for $2700 - https://www.trekbikes.com/us/en_US/b...-sl-5/p/24223/
The Cdale probably has 'nicer' wheels. Not $700 nicer though.

MSRP on a new Synapse (not Hi-Mod) with Ultegra is $3,150, with 105 is $2625 (according to their website, I suspect LBS's have prices slightly below those). Those specs seem more comparable to a SRAM Rival spec, but would not have a hi-mod frame. The hi-mod is the highest end frame, so typically it gets paired with top-of-the-line components like SRAM Red or Shimano Dura Ace.
Cannondale's website currently only lists Hi-Mod Synapse with either SRAM Red E-tap/AXS, or Shimano Dura Ace Di2/mechanical, all with disc brakes. It also looks like Cannondale's website lists the MSRP of a hi-mod dura ace at $6800, so I don't see how a Rival equipped bike could have an MSRP of $7000.

My guess is the shop or whomever owns it replaced the drive train and related brakes with Rival as C dale does not have the Hi-mod available with Rival. If it were Ultegra take it home, but Rival? Naw. Not for me, especially with their disc brakes. Yuk.

I'm guessing you might care if the price was higher than MSRP.

Synapse Hi-Mod Disc Dura-Ace [2019] $6,850

the "Synapse Hi-Mod Disc Dura-Ace [2019]" is listed at $6,850. I picked this example, as it was the lowest MSRP Hi-mod of 2019. Which includes the carbon Hollowgram wheelset, and it has the Cannondale HollowGram Si, w/ OPI SpideRing
IMO if you are going to dummy down on the components + wheels then Hi-mod is pointless. But, each to his own......
I just think a non hi-mod carbon Synapse with more money into wheels is a better Direction.
Because by the time you pay $3,500 + wheels. You might as well buy up. All depends on your relationship with the shop too. with close to 20-30% off, then buying up is a better choice. However selling you MK7 with Rival for $3,500 makes me question the ethics of whom ever is selling that Synapse!!
