Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Truely Yellow Tires, Please...

I just bought some Michelin Lithion 2's in "yellow"... Besides being the worst time I have ever had installing a tire, they are definitely burnt orange. For reference, Fizik's yellow bar tape is true yellow. Or even the Mavic symbol on the Aksium Race's. I was curious if anyone else has/seen truly yellow tires? I was just snooping around and Maxxis' Detonators "yellow" seems to be orange as well. Thank you folks. 700c x 23.

I really liked the original Lithions, which are as yellow as it gets. Right now I have the 2's in blue and like them even more. Mounting them has never been a problem.

Thanks for the input. Not sure what it was. One went on fine. Other popped a tube, took it off, re applied, couldn't get it closed up, switched sides and after 2 tries finally got it on. The tire itself looks like it's going to last, just the bright yellow vs. orange-muted-yellow looks a little ridiculous. No problem going back to black if i can't find any. Cheers!

Maybe you got a bad batch.

I put the whole wheel with the tube mounted slightly inflated "inside" the tire with the beads outside. Then I use levers to mount one bead, then do the other side. There are a lot of bikes at my house with different wheelsets and it always works.

I would guess to as well. Like I said, one was cake. The other was a fit and a half. I usually do one bead side on, tube in, inflate a little, lever the other on. Sometimes it takes a little more pressure, but for the most part works ok. One thing I did notice was how stiff the actual tread of the tire was so it couldn't curve around the tube and instead seemed to push it out over and over. I would hope that means less flats! But, we'll see.

Nice! Yeah definitely a different yellow. I'll post pics when it gets sunny and you'll see the difference.

Banana yellow is what I'm avoiding it seems then. In comparison, it looks "orange." I'll check into Vittorio Rubino if it's brighter. Thanks! What's the point on spending a ton on a bike and have it mismatched and look like crap.

Yeah, I still don't get it.

I've yet to see many bikes posted in there with colored tires (minus the jackass thread).

edit: Spoke too soon, someone just posted a bike with yellow tires.
