ceya- that was John from Demoncats trash talking, not mine! Though John is indeed awesome and has put on some rocking races. With months of lead time, it should be a killer route and some amazing prizes.

Bonjour!
After spinning around the velodrome this past weekend, we pegged down a definitive answer and reserved the Bromont velodrome for Sunday Oct 9th for the 6th Annual Course des Morts Alleycat after-event.
Along with the 'drome all day, we also have a race official , who's been racing track for 25+ years, and the possibility of a sensor timing machine to precisely time your Flying 200M personal best on the boards. In lieu of these hook-ups, I'm co-organizing a second event for the Sunday, Le "Montreal Track Courier Invitational". (it just sounded nice, no need for invites, everyone's invited. plus it sounds a bit more official than "bash" or "fest"...)
Here are the plans so far for the weekend-
Saturday Oct 8th:
Afternoon- BYO Picnic with Track Events & Footdown
Evening -Course des Morts Alleycat
-Goldsprints after party
Sunday Oct 9th:
Morning -Open Track
Noon and later- Qualifiers: Flying 200's followed by
Velodrome events. Match Sprints, Points, Elimination & other races
The Bromont Velodrome is an outdoor, laminated wood 250M track, with 45 deg banks. It's the 'drome from the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, that we had carted up here. It's 35 min. East of Montreal, so we're organizing school buses/vans for racers/spectators with no cars.
Out of towner's, please drop me an email if you and your crews are planning on coming. This will help for planning van/bus rentals, couch surfing and 'drome race organizating.
Flyer to come, very soon.
Booyah!
any questions drop me a note at
d_pendon *at* hotmail you all know the rest.... but YOU don't, you damn spambots.

Hm... I wonder why no recent mention of NYC's Caribbean Team's "Race to the Border"?
The flyer is on the nybma.com site (sorry, I've yet to figure out how to post pics). I was told by the main organizer that the finish line is going to be on 9W at the state line between NY and NJ. For all those weekend Nyack riders, consider this your home turf!!!
Yikes, looks like the Halloween race has been announced:

No races, but this weekend is action-packed for all my Boston-area bike fiends.
Friday, midnight (the time between Friday and Saturday), Coolidge Corner Theater. The premier of the SCUL movie Operation SuperPosi.
Saturday, all day: MassBike's 3rd Annual Bike Festival. Yes it costs money, but it's bound to be a good time and you get fed! I'll be leading or sweeping or something the ride from Arlington out to the farm. Join us for a mellow ride. I'm thinking I'll tow the dog.
Sunday, Sunday, Sunday!! You pay for the whole seat but you only need the EDGE!! Get your freak(bike) on at the tallbikes challenge! If you've got a tallbike, bring it and compete. We're swimming in prizes. SWIMMING, I TELL YOU! If you've got a chopper or other weird two, three, or n-wheeler, bring that too! We've got food, drinks, and prizes! I'll be emceeing or something.
SWIMMING, DAMN YOU!

Tell him to talk to Macy Allat at Timbuk2. If the race benefits a non-profit they can also probably get some sponsorship and possibly beer from Anchor brewing. Gotta act quick though...

Thanks for the info. I'll go by youth night tonight and see if Adrian is around. I'm not sure he'll be there -- he's moving to LA for grad school soon -- but I'll do what I can to pass along the information. Maybe he's got something arranged -- I did have that conversation with him about a month ago.
Race has no restrictions on type of bike, BTW.

I'm planning an alleycat / food drive. Please attend or spread the word. This is my first event. Open to all bikes.
-----
Labor Day, Sept. 5th, 2005 9:00 am @ Central Park, Rochester, Minnesota
Food collected will benefit Channel One Food Bank. Alleycats are competitions developed by bike messengers where riders choose their routes to checkpoints/item pick up locations around Rochester, that are revealed in the ride manifest at the start. It's similer to a scavenger hunt on bicycles.
Cash prizes for overall top three. Bring your bike, a bag, a pen, and a helmet. $10 to compete (to cover the cost of grocery items. The rest will be placed in the prize kitty to be awarded).
THERE IS NO RACE COURSE! EVENT HELD ON OPEN ROADS! If you are not comfortable riding your bike in traffic, this may not be an event for you.
-----
Feel free to spread the word. Fliers to print and hand out at located at:
https://www.tortoiseandharedesigns.co...brochure-1.pdf

Anyone know of anything going on in Boston? Kind of new on the fixed gear scene, wouldn't mind meeting some folks and having some fun with some races.
