SOLD 20" Novara Touring Bike - Tange 2, Deore XT Deerhead, Cantis, Mid Forks

Novara Randonee touring bike. Made in Japan and might be a rebranded Nishiki. The serial number starts with N
Seat tube - 20" CTC, 21.5" CTT
Top tube - 21.75" CTC
Stand over - 31.25"
20" CTC seat tube / 21.5" CTC top tube. Full fender and rack mounts. Ignore the pictured saddle, it will come with your choice of either a nice Vetta or a modern seat.
The frame has no dents. There are some scratches on the top tube and lots of scratches at the tops of the seat stays.
Mechanically it works great. Hoods are fantastic. Bar tape is newish and acceptable. Tires are matching Panaracer Pasela, the front is excellent and the rear is a bit worn. The bike will have a new chain installed.
$290 plus shipping/Paypal. Willing to sell this as a frame set.

Could be a good candidate for a 700c conversion with those Canti’s. Super sweet find.

Next spring I intend to try this out with a 55cm Nashbar Toure MT. It’s very similar to your Novara except the components are Suntour. I believe we have the same cantilever brakes and I’ve seen others use them, typically with success, in 27”-to-700c conversions. But each bike is different. I converted a Nashbar Sport to 650b and its old 700c wheels would look perfect.

Nice bike just like it is - imo. What does it measure center to top of seat tube? What does the head tube measure?
What are the hubs and rims? Are they sealed cartridge bearing hubs?

Hubs are Suzue Sealed Tech. They look like cup and cone. Rims are Araya.

One of my favorite parts of this bike is this cool Shimano stamped cable hanger. Maybe it's a common part but it's one I haven't seen before. Usually they are DC or unbranded.

So cool. I had one of these (exact year and color) and loved it. The frame was a perfect blend of liveliness and stiffness for when loaded. It sold me on Tange 2 and Novara Randonees. As-is this one would be a great commuter. I had put some barend shifters on mine and my next step in its evolution to a bulletproof tourer/commuter was going to be some 700c double walled rims/wheels, but I ended up selling it to help finance grad school. If I was in need and it was my size I would be all over this. GLWS!

I'd be ok pulling stuff you didn't need like bars, shifters, etc to drop the price some and reduce shipping.

I had a made in Japan Nishiki Cresta. Looks like a dead ringer for the Nishiki. Of course, Nishiki didn't make anything other than brochures, mine was made by Kawamura. So if it is a Kawamura, it would have their style serial number (check TMar's database).
