Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Quick advice on CL Specialized Secteur Comp before I go check it out in the A.M.

I currently own and ride a 2006 Specialized Allex Expert, full ultegra with neuvation aero wheelset. I log 80-120 miles a week currently and have been looking for a bike with a more relaxed geometry for some charity rides and possible some short tours (3 days or so) this year. I came across this 2012 Specialized Secteur Comp Apex while near Houston for work. I'm not averse to SRAM and really like the lines of the Secteur/Roubaix. Guy is willing to flex on the price. Any input on the bike is appreciated, I'm going to give it a look/ride in the morning when I get off work. It's the right size.

2012 Specialized Secteur Comp

I ride a Secteur Elite.. 2012 Tiagra group. Mine weighs 21lbs with Vuelta Corsa lite wheelset, so no lightweight
Most of my rides are in the 20 to 40 mile range, max of 100, I find the ride quite comfy! I agree thatsa very good price. I wouldn't let
mine go for that!

That is an insane deal for that bike! The SRAM Apex is an awesome groupset, I have it on my bike. Indeed an exceptional deal, up if you are interested you should jump on that one, it will not last.

I asked about any issues/defects and he said there is a scratch on the RD that you can see and he said one bar end plug is scuffed. Looks pretty immaculate from the pics. I offered him $475 cash and he said he'd take that if I came pick up. It's only a 20 min drive for me so that's a no brainer! Barring anything crazy, I'll hopefully be posting new pics soon.

I would have my $475 ready and go get this bike. Even if there are small cosmetic issues it's still a good deal. Heck, even if the RD is damaged it's a good deal. An apex RD will only run you $40-$50 new on ebay. I would do whatever I could to secure this deal.

That's fell-off-the-truck pricing. Great bike, great price.

I'm live in south Louisiana near Lafayette, but work in Houston. I want to gear up for the MS 150 out of Baton Rouge in October. I was also looking at a local Red Bug Hill Charity Ride out of St Francisville, LA in May. I wanted to do the Tour of Lafitte out of Lake Charles, but I have drill that weekend. I swear, anytime a date comes up for something I want to do, National Guard interferes, lol. Between that and travel nursing, I tend to simply ride alone wherever I can.

I've that exact bike, it listed at $1550 and I got mine for $1250 at season closeout in summer of 2012. It's a great bike and I think that what he's asking is a fantastic deal. It's no super lightweight, about 21lbs.

I rode one at a Spesh shop and liked it.
It looks very clean and I wouldn't sweat any small scuffs.
If only it was Shimano...
