New Lemond track bike...
Anybody seen the new 05 Lemond track bike? We just got the catalog at work the other day and it looks promising. Has Bontrager track wheelset (not sure about the low spoke count), True Temper OX Platinum steel frame and front and rear brakes. Lots of Bontrager parts, cranks, bars, stem, wheels, etc. but for house brand parts the Bonty stuff is usually pretty good. The frame seems great though. I think retail is around $1000.

Wow, that does sounds good. I bought a lower-end 2004 Lemond road bike this summer and I couldn't be happier. Even though the frame is Al it has a great ride. Very quick but very smooth. My Lemond came with several Bontrager parts but they have held up just fine and are still looking good.

FWIW, as I now think about this more, I have owned a number of Bontrager compenents and they have never let me down.

unfortunately, i couldn't find it on Lemond's website at all... my LBS is a dealer, maybe i'll go down there tomorrow and see if i can get my hands on a catalog...

It's called the "Fillmore." It looks as though it has pretty slack angles and I don't think it would be perfectly suited for the track. The frame is black with cream (off white) panels. The Bontrager parts are all black too. ISIS BB [sigh]. The track ends look a lot like the ends on the Surly Steamroller. Carbon fork. I'm not sure of the rear spacing (120?) or availability. However, my dealer also confirmed that the MSRP is roughly $1,000. My dealer also mentioned that it comes standard with brakes for reasons pertaining to liability. Wha? Maybe Specialized will start putting brakes on the Langster Pro. Overall, the Fillmore appears to be a very nice looking bike at a fair price.

Yes, and the graphite fork is iffy. But it does look far better than most of the other large company jobs. And that's not a swipe at any particular lamester out there.

Yeah the angles may be lax but i would still ride it on the track .It reminds me of my Panasonic back in the 80's it had lax angles but I raced it for 5 yrs on the track.

Yeah, although it's probably not too bad, though it does raise the question about howit's been kept.
Also, anyone know anything about the ends? I've only ever seen those style ends on a Surly, but I find it hard to believe that Lemond would use Surly track ends.
Edit: it also appears that there's a brake mount on the seatstay bridge. It coud just be a decorative something, but it looks suspicous given the rust in the BB shell, the Surly-esque ends, and the apparent difficulty getting them. With the black paint job it's hard to tell if the chain stays have the Surly dimples though even those could be bondo'd.
Further update: in one photo you can pretty clearly see a bottle boss in exactly the same place it would be on a Steamroller frame. I cry foul.

hmm...it looks to me, from the background of some of the pics on that ebay auction that this frame, and a number of lemond frames may have "fallen off the back of the truck" into this guy's warehouse. ....or something.

Got the Lemond '05 catalog today... the Fillmore looks nice, not sure if it is worth $1000 bucks though.
