Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

IMO, it all depends on who's riding the bike.

Very bad fashion can look very good on very good looking riders, and vice versa.

Exception that proves the rule - or something like that. People can get away with wearing "whatever" in winter because it really doesn't matter. On the other hand, making a point to wear black tights and a black jacket in order to be wearing "proper" cycling gear is just trying too hard, and failing - unless one happens to be a fitness model or something, in which case one can get away with wearing anything.

Cipo was one who could get away with wearing anything, and everyone else would be wearing it a week later.

A regular Duke of Windsor, that guy.

Cycling gear... unless you are a pro training then you are just a grown man out in public in cosplay.

^^ Troll harder.

I'm not into the super matchy-matchy where the kit matches the helmet matches the shoes, etc. You don't have to have the same color everything.

Let's hear yours.
Frankly, It's folks like you that tie themselves in a knot over something so simply as what others look like...their "kit" (now there's a fugly word).

Life is short..thoughts become things, think good ones..

(of course, it goes without saying..the less attractive underbelly of threads like this is those that "do it right" feel soo superior..apparently fragile egos need propping up..)

I think you put way more mental energy into "what not to wear" than the above cyclists put into "what to wear."

I love these threads for the humor (intentional or otherwise) that they provide.

This thread did not disappoint.

Thank you!

Incorrect. It’s designed for warm weather, and keeping sweat from pouring into your eyes.

I don't have a problem with perspiration falling into my eyes.

I use a cap only on cold days.

YMMV

That particular cap is a summer skull cap.

https://www.castelli-cycling.com/us/...451604318P-010

Whether it works or not is not relevant to this thread. What is relevant is fashion. Whether the color was a good choice is only relevant with regard to fashion.

Black works well under a helmet, otherwise the cap needs to be the same color as the helmet so as not to stand out or clash. IE my helmet is white and so my skull caps are white.

That said, a summer skull cap is always fashionable. I wish people could understand this concept and apply it to summer base layers as well.

I ride in 110+ degree weather, and sweat pours out of your body like a spigot when it's that warm.
