What's your philosophy of life (in one sentence)?

I love the diversity on this forum, and I love the common bond we have with cycling. Thought it might be interesting to hear what 50+ers "philosophy of life" is, expressed in a single sentence. Might provide some interesting food for thought on this New Year's Eve.

Mine is, "Here is a test to find whether your mission on Earth is finished: If you're alive, it isn't." It's a quote from Richard Bach.

Great idea, DG. One of my favorites is Bertrand Russell: "We want to stand upon our own two feet and look fair and square at the world - its good facts, its bad facts, its beauties, and its ugliness; see the world as it is and be not afraid of it."

Happy New Year!

That is my signature line in a private forum I run...

However, I think a more meaningful, as far as what I am striving for...

What others do should not trouble you, but what they need should.

In physical endeavors do everything the hard way.
In mental endeavors search endlessly for shortcuts.

and now I'm remembering something my father used to say in 10 2-letter words.

"If it is to be, it is up to me."

(and at the end of every party when he was mostly inebriated he liked to say, "thanks for having me, glad you met me.")

Don't really have a concise philosophy that drives me. One that comes to mind now & then is "Play with the hand you're dealt." Which is to say, make the best out of what you have.

But this quote from Bertrand Russell comes closer to my perspective on things

"The essence of the liberal outlook lies not in what opinions are held, but in how they are held: instead of being held dogmatically, they are held tentatively, and with a consciousness that new evidence may at any moment lead to their abandonment."
