I rode my bicycle today down to the local waterfront on the Mississippi today to take a picture of my bike and a local replica of the Statue of Liberty but it had been removed while flood related work is being done and the work is not complete. This old picture was taken in 2006 and I had ridden my bike but the "Rules" were not in effect back then so I did not include the bike in the photo. This photo is just a place holder until something better IAW the "rules" gets submitted.

Fountainhead with bicycle and Rivbike cap.
sorry couldn’t put cap actually on head. Water washed it right off. BTW this location several blocks South of the Rivendell shop.
so with mr bills permission I choose the next mission. A presidential candidates storefront office.

Needs Babe the blue ox.
If you were at the other end of the state, I'd have bet that used to be Mark McGwire before the congressional hearings.
Oh, I found this, BTW--he's a muffler man:

I never understood how the Paul Bunyan that I had visited as a child in Bemidji then later turned up in Northern California. Is that just another Santa Claus thing of tricking us kids? Just knock it off you grownups we will figure it out later anyway!

Rats! I thought I might be able to bag this mission this evening. Our town has several statues of real people, including Benjamin Franklin, Robert Frost, Thomas Jefferson, and James Madison, but we also have a statue of Harry and Louise, who were the fictional characters in the commercials the health insurance industry ran to try to stop Obamacare.

I don’t know, he’s no longer a presidential candidate. Does that count?

New mission assignment is, bicycle rack at car dealership, or some other similar accommodation for employees or customers who arrive by bicycle at a car dealership (preferred) or car oriented parts store or car repair shop . After 48 hours, any bicycle accommodation where you wouldn't expect to find it will meet the mission requirement.

I Like To Bike, how would you like the game to be run? Because it seems like you want it a different way. Should we all vote on YOUR way?
I did my best to make everyone happy and I don't appreciate your comments. It seems like people are happy with the way the game is run but if not, I am not against changing things for the greater good. But honestly, I think you're making more out of it than it needs to be just to be a pain in the arse. And I don't appreciate that.

I concur with 3S1M. The rules are simple: Post a pic of the mission with your bike in it. Set a new mission. The game gets confusing, and difficult to follow with all the side discussion, posting of photos that aren't "official" entries, or 'catch up' entries, etc. And then those posts get quoted...and suddenly it's hard to find where the current mission is stated. And when they can't find the mission, I think potential players are just tuning out and the game goes into a standstill.

I’m out trying to find bike accommodations at an auto-centric location. Pretty tough.. until recently my LBS didn’t have a rack. But I’m lookin’!

Here is an example of what a suitable submission might look like; pictures taken today ½ mile from my normal route to my daily swimming spot.

If you look at the numbers, this is by far the most popular thread on the forum right now. I'm not actually riding right now because I've gotten to be a cold weather wimp in my dotage, but I seriously doubt I'm the only nonparticipant following the thread. Frankly, the asides and the nonentry photos are extremely entertaining. As I see it, the contest is a McGuffin driving a fun exchange of things we've seen.
Keep the asides, quit the quibbling about rules and proper posts.
How about just posting the new mission in bold after it's been accepted?

Automotive Accomodation. Target: Timber Train Trestle
Audi dealership on West Katy Freeway near Houston TX.
'Round back there is a bike rack, which I initially thought was for employees:
Bike rack on west side of service bay.
But then I rolled past the display and saw that it might be infrastructure for bicycle servicing. (A brief panic that I might not be able to fulfil the mission since now I was looking at a bike shop instead of an automotive dealership, but that feeling passed in, oh, 30 nanoseconds.)
Audi bikes apparently sell as well as cars!
And right in front of the dealership a sobering reminder of what's important:
A reminder to make sure no one gets hurt on our trip.
Please don't let the last item hijack this thread. We're just having fun here. Please do remember what's really important.
Next Mission: Returning to the big public infrastructure theme, I would like to see your bike in front of a wooden (not concrete, not steel) train trestle. Extra credit if the train is on it at the same time. After Saturday 2/22 it can be of any material and may support loads other than rail. See Wikipedia for the explanation of a trestle.
