1970's Urago Track frame

I got this frame from a guy for $50 because it was unusable when he had it since the seatpost was jammed into the seat tube. That has been removed and now I'm curious as to how much this frame might be worth.

I have tried to find info on the company but there isn't that much. All I know is that the lugs are BCM and that it's a 1970's because the headbadge is not the same that they used in the 50's and 60's with the face.

If anyone could help me, that would be great.

About what size is the frame?

I don't see any indication of tube material, so I'm just going to guess it's not a high end bike. But track frames are sought after right now, so in any event you definitely got your money's worth.

The frame size measures between a 58-59. I know that they used Vitus at once point but I don't know what they used for this and there isn't really any marking for it at all.

I've seen only one Urago up close. Didn't realize the build details stayed like this into the '70s; the dropout-to-stay (or fork blade) joints - with all due respect - looked crudely done on the one below:

Well, I'm kind of guessing it is a 1970's (late 70's and maybe even in the 80's) because I know that the headbadge changed when they started losing quality. This wasn't because the company was going down but because they started focusing on the motorcycle side of their business more. The frame looks pretty well constructed but I'm sure it isn't made with some great tubing like they did in the 50's and 60's.

I guess I'm lucky that all these kids (not that I'm old myself at 22) want these old track bikes to ride around on the street.

Oh, there's no doubt they're decent; I wouldn't expect a tube to separate from a lug. That's Raleigh's department

I wish I had a closeup of that blue one though - the stays looked like they were slotted by a poorly-wielded hacksaw at the Huffy Corp. When I initially saw it, I honestly wondered if that was typical or not. Your DO's look as if they've been finished smoother.

22? Welcome to the club, same here. I just wish they'd lay off the deep V's.

Yes, I agree with getting past the deep v's. I do, however, have a fixed gear but it doesn't have deep v's and it is used on the track as well as the street.

I've ridden fixed before; done a few builds, but don't own one now (I refuse to do a conversion). Fun stuff for training, that's for sure.

I had one back in the early 80's as a fixed gear trainer. The original paint was crap and the fork was drilled for a brake. I gave it a spray can job. It had Campy Record Pista cranks, BB, hubs, and SP with a generic French headset. I sold it in the 90's for $450.00 but the parts were in great shape and were probably most of the value.
