Rails Trail in Minnesota
Hi all,
Will be touring west to east across Minnesota in August heading to northern Michigan from SD. Was wondering if there are any well maintained long trails that you could recommend.
Thanks.

Well, I don't know how convenient to your route they will be, but I can recommend two (three?) fine trails in MN.
The first one is the Central Lakes/Lake Wobegon Trail. Techinically, they are two trails. But realistically, they are one trail.
And a brilliant one that that. They simply meet in Osakis, MN.
The other is the Root River trail in southeastern MN. Also, a nice trail.
The rails-to-trails website has a lot of great information on these trails...

I think for trails it is easier to go north/south:

If you have specific road questions, I can ask around.

You will end up going on a lot of roads as I don't know of a trail that goes east and west across the whole state. What area from South Dakota will you enter Minnesota?
