Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I'm 6'2", 180 lbs, 31-32 waist. The waist sizing is M and height wise I'm a L. Anyone same size riding hammer bibs? If so, which size did you go with?

I'm convinced on the Hammer Bibs and ready to pick up a couple. Need some help though.

I'm 5'8" 157lb (will be 152 soon 5lbs I gained during injury will come off easy). I wear a 30 waist. Should I get the small or medium?

Small sizing chart says 5'4" to 5'8" 29-31 but 120-145 weight.

Medium is 5'7" to 5'11" 32-34 and 145-170.

I would normally just get medium but someone said his legs were loose on his.

Also, where do you enter someone's customer # for referral for the first purchase discount?

The legs start loose but tighten up when you ride. I have found that the size is similiar to the perforance elite shorts.

You enter the number at the last page when ordering. I PM'ed you my customer # if you want to use it.

If they had any CSC bibs left in my size I'd pick up a pair. Looks like a great short.

Bicycling mag has a review in it this month. Performance won in the under $100 range.

(I didn't read the 5 pages of posts, so excuse me if I am repeating someone)

The ultra's or elites?

I recently got a pair of the ultras and think they are very nice, but the durability is not so great. They already show signs of wear on the seams on the inside of the chamois where they touch the saddle after two rides, granted very long rides (450 miles total.) This is something my hammer bibs do not have a problem with...

They are, however, very nice fitting and the Escher fabric and elastic chamois are excellent. Perhaps the seams will balance out and not wear through.

They restock these, so check back for sizes. I got a free shipping email and 15% off, so I saved a ton off the listed price.
I just paid the same thing today, for just the shorts. I guess they'll be going back and I'll order some bibs as well.

I tried them on today and they were to big in the legs where the band is. My thighs are 22".

Can someone address the question of leg length (to save me the trouble of reading/searching )? I prefer my bibs long, closer to the knee. How are Hammer's?

EDIT: George, what size do you normally wear, and what size were the Hammer's you tried on?

the hammers are the typical length leg. on me they go pretty close to the knee to where the muscle on the outside of my leg tapers in towards the knee - if that makes sense

On me they are actually slightly more snug than most brands I've used. I got a size M, like I do in every other brand.

IMO that's not a good thing. I don't see how they can tighten up when you ride - I think that if thats happening the only reason I could possibly think of is that your legs are swelling a little because there is more blood being pumped to them. If the legs are loose thats a sign of an ill fitting short IMO. Most people buy shorts too big.

Yes, I think they should be snug anyway. I could put my finger under the leg band and not bother the shorts, at all.

In the last 6 weeks I've picked up: the Hammers by Voler, the close-out CSC by Descente and the recent Nasbar special Sugois.

The Sugois are the best but the other 2 aren't far behind and I like all 3. The Sugoi special is over and at retail they're expensive. I don't know if there are any CSC kit left either but if the Hammers are back in stock I'd say go for it.
