GT Windstream help with crankset
i am restoring a GT windstream. It needs a new front sprocket as i destroyed the original one trying to replace it with a vintage one i purchased. The problem is that the vintage front sprocket does not have the same chain spacing as the rear 7 speed shimano freewheel cog. What do I do now?
How can i find a front sprocket that will fit? I am thinking around 42 or 44 teeth?

You need to figure out your BCD (Bolt Circle Diameter) and then order a chainring in that BCD an 7-9 speed should work fine your local bike shop can help with all of this as they probably have the tool and the know how. However keep in mind the Windstream is a very low initial cost bike and is not really a great candidate for putting a lot of money into. They were under $300 new and don't hold much value used.
