Destination Hillclimbs Within 3-4 hours of Philly

It’s only January, but in a few months I would like to try a “destination” hillclimb.

A couple years ago we did Whiteface, which was a great ride starting/ending in Lake Placid, but that’s too far for a same-day ride.

Best idea I have is Platt Cove Rd/Devil’s Kitchen. Anyone ridden it? How are the roads and traffic? Good areas nearby to ride before/after the climb? I am open to other suggestions as well.

Sent me Googling, happens often. The climb is way out of my league, but sounds like fun for anyone who can do it. Found some interesting tidbits as well.

Not super long but Pinch Road to Mount Gretna is a good climb, over a mile, at the Lancaster Lebanon line. Mount Gretna has the Jigger Shop which is a go-to old school ice cream parlor which is a nice destination ride. The Lancaster Bicycle Club probably has a nice route built. Riding to the Pagoda in Reading is a good climb, both within 2 hours of you.

Thanks. We have done rides from here (Chester County) to the Pagoda, which is not bad. I have also ridden the climb up in Jim Thorpe which is also good.

I am looking for something even longer/more epic, but still within a day-trip range of here.

Old thread, did you end up finding any good rides to recommend in the area?
