Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Nice. I wonder which one of the big brands will hit a $3,500 price point with Ultegra Di2

Those specs are interesting. Non bontrager wheels and oclv frame ? Is the 5 series going to be made in USA again ?

that looks awesome but I'm also confused about the frame. The 5 series went over seas a couple years ago and now this says is OCLV? That either means Trek is allowing the factories to mass produce the top end frames or their bring the 5 series back stateside. I'm tempted to think the former based on the state of the economy. That's one awesome looking set up though.

I don't know, but the 3 series are branded OLCV too... I think they are changing up the carbon lineup.

Not anymore. They're marked as TCT carbon https://www.trekbikes.com/us/en/bikes...1_h2_compact/#

the four and 5 series are TCT As well right now. Could be an interesting development. I'm all for it if it pulls a $500 out of the retail on the bike. At under 5K for the bike that's a killer price.

Your looking at 2011 data, I'm talking about the 2012 info. The news ones have OLCV on the frame, but it is called OLCV 300...

2012 3 series Madone

5 series went over seas for the 2011 frames. 2010 Madones were still made in the USA. The 5 series will still be over seas for the 2012 bikes.

I see what you're saying. My bad. I haven't seen much for the 2012 bikes yet. If they're all marked as some version of OCVL they'll probably be doing just what you said and add numbered tiers to all of them. 300 for the 3 and 4 series. 500 for the 5 series (added internal cable routing). Probably something significantly higher for the 6 series.
