Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

BarloWorld Cannondale (skunkworks)

Just read an article in cycling weekly (uk mag) in which they showed a black team bike which no one could identify. There is speculation that this is the all new carbon racer. Anyone seen the pic/read the article/know anything? Also the new six13 slice looks really cool! its a pity that cannondale reserves those tear drop shapes and seat tube cutouts for time trial/tri bikes. All speculation/rumors welcome!

I've seen the Six13 Slice, my shop has one, it is very very cool. Still not as cool as the P3 Carbon (but then what is?) but a nice bike non the less.

I think it was cyclingnews.com that had a photo of the new Cannondale. I confirmed this past weekend that it will be released for 2007 and that the CF front triangle will be made in the US (unlike the Synapse). Is the bike full CF or is it a CF front triangle with the CAAD8 rear end? And it had a huge head tube...why the hell would they do that on a road bike?

I can't find that photo on cyclingnews but I swear I saw it there...still looking.

The head tube is 1.5 inches, my bet will be that will become the new standard over the next few years.

Yea but WHY? We don't really need 1 1/8" why the hell go to 1" on a bike so concerned about aerodynamics...it must have some small impact...Cervelo makes the head tubes of the P3C as thin as they can for the aero benefit...

so pretty much its an evoutionary step from six 13, now entire front half is carbon, while seat tube, chainstays and seat stays are caad 8? 1.5" head tube? oh wow! all new forks/stems on the way! What's the benefit to the wider head tube? Strength increases, so does weight. Is it really necessary?

Well their mt bikes have 1.5" head tubes, I'm not sure if the steerer tube on the fork is going to be 1.5" or they are just making the head tube larger to accomadate a larger bearing. I'm not a retro-grouch in any way but I realize that much of what comes out is just something 'new' to help boost sales. I've gone full cirlce from Al race bikes to carbon back to Al again. I'm just as happy with my full Al bike as I was with my Carbon bike and the Al bike is 1/3 the cost.

All the info you could want here: https://weightweenies.starbike.com/ph...light=astarloa

You can see exactly what's carbon and what's Al:

A new standard is cool. I just hated Cannondale proprietary Hollowgram crank/BB.

I wish Shimano would just revamp the frame standard with their new DA 7900 group to be honest.

You can get any frame without the Hollowgram bb.

I know that. I was just saying I would "opt" not to have it. I like Cannondales stuff a lot in general. They are my favorite bike brand

You can also get an adapter to convert a Hollogram frame to a std BB. The Hollowgram is lighter and stiffer...what's not to like.

What's not to like? I demand that my bikes are heavier and flex more!

I like the frame pump in the pic...I went back to one myself and ditched the Co2.
